Moab,
I've said it like 3 times to you, but you don't seem to listen: post VIDEOS of you doing stuff in the SAB. Post full on breakdowns of your entire step-by-step process and we'll see where you're going wrong.

Well...
Who uses brf agar? Im trying to get clarification about...
1. How nutritious is brf... To us(cubes) 2. Doesnt straining remove some of the % content? 3. If its more nutritious per gram then say malt, wouldnt you use a lower ratio?
I like 1- 1.5% with my ambient conditions the closer i get to 2% or higher, the slower the cultures grow.
Not talkin LCs. I made 5g/500ml broth and it rocked tho.

it has approximatelly the same calories than LME. Straining is the way to go IMO, like boil the brf and then strain, that's what I used to do, plenty of nutes left, you don't need the gunk at the bottom, it can even alter the agar consistency. 1,5% is ok
Anyway, I won't be doing any agar other than LME cos is the shit and I love the way myc grows on it, it's unlike any other recipe and it's easy pissy.

I love my lme too. I just have so much brf. I dont boil it tho. Just cold water shake like lme, pour into bottle and pc.
So to follow up, is 4% something anyone would use? (im legitimately asking)

Try it out and see.
If you go by calories you'll get numbers that are meaningless. We don't know the metabolism of cubensis. If an organism cannot digest something it has no caloric value to the organism. Or in the case of yeast using sugar aerobic yields more energy than using it anaerobically. So yeast gets more calories from glucose in aerobic growth rather than anaerobic fermentation.
I would think straining is effectively taking away %

Set up the pressure cooker at last night with 10 quarts of oats
Got it up to pressure it was 10pm was supposed to shut it off at 12.
Well ended up turning it off at 9am. So it got 11 hours at 17-18psi
Also didn't run dry. So if you've ever warped or ran a presto23 dry you have to try to be that stupid.

I did try it. I tried 4-6% brf agar and it grew really poor cultures. And was the consistency of low quality cheese sauce. Thick n lumpy with a grainy texture. Filtering broths doesnt make me mushrooms so i dont do it.
Those same cultures perked up once i put to the 1.5%~ media.

They sucked the sub nearly dry. If I had bottom-watered squirting some water down the sides with a syringe I'm pretty sure I had gotten thicker fruits.
Josex, So you just spawned to bulk, flipped the lid and didn't do anything for ~2.5 weeks? MS or cloned genetics? Very promising results!

I would sooner make BRF paste than try using 4% brf agar. My brf agar thread stopped with the first experiment because the higher percentages sucked to work with
Regardless even 1% brf plates pin like mad. I should weigh a flush off the petri dishes with brf agar lol probably astronomical BE

Probably the water content is fucked. It's a shame extended pc times do that to the grains. I love STERILIZATION, it's kind of an obsession. I think I've achieved that with the wheat I'm using right now but at the cost of drying them out a little which amounts to slower colonization. 150 min at ~30 psi does it
I like oats but the oats I can get locally are so fucking dirty I'd need to pc the shit out of them to sterilize them, which isn't practical. I'm tinkering atm with some finicky millet I got my hands on, after 4 attempts of messing up the prep (too wet after pcing) I think I got it right, it's a clean grain and my gut tells me is gonna be the shitz for LC.

Idk they still shake around just fine. I would be surprised if the moisture balance can get shifted that much. There's steam inside the jar and outside. Only on cool down can I imagine moisture leaving the jars but even then its slight at best.
If anything I think theyre dryer than normal
