What do i do if the pressure lock on my presto is leaking steam? It still comes to pressure. I just figured it shouldn't be happening.
My brand new 23qt spits steam out the lock for several moments after I put the weight on but before it pops up to lock into place and then it stops
My old one did it too and I thought it was a problem, maybe I bring the heat up too fast but it hasn’t caused any issues
Mine started doing this a while ago, I just walk up and squeeze the lid to the pot and hold it for 30 seconds and it stops

Hey I also use the 23qt presto. I know when I got mine, the pressure gauge, and locking pin weren't screwed in all the way. BOTH of them have threads and screw in, make sure you tighten them down before using. My lock and pressure mount that the bobble sits on were spitting steam and hissing. Before the next round I checked and they weren't tight, screwed em in and now it works fine. The locking pin that pushes up when it starts to build pressure will spit steam regardless as it wavers between enough pressure to hold it up and let it fall.

Josex said: I like your inquisitiveness. I'm no engineer either but the whole co2 theory that's been parroted and passed down to death in mush cult is plain bulshit. Heat's welcome. Even the theory behind the placement of the holes and how they move the air in the tub by adjusting the poly has no solidity whatsoever, people just like to go with what has been stablished by the majority to be true, cos that's the easy route.
Pretty sure most skilled cultivators here that swear by holes and polly never tried doing a single grow in an unmodified tub.
Co2 ain't gonna stay at the bottom of the tub, no matter if the tub has holes or not. An unmodded tub covers all the organism's needs by just cracking the lid a little or even with the lid upside down. We're not growing oysters here for fucks sake, they're cubes and don't need that much exposure to the air of the room to grow healthy.
I'm gonna give again the stupid example I wrote the other day. You leave a human in a tote big enough with the lid upside down and that person won't suffocate, but myc metabolizes the oxygen far slower than a human being. What makes people think an unmodded tub will suffocate the myc when it is a nearly anaerobic organism if we compare it with a human being? C'mon, let's use some logic. Logic or not, you can grow canopies in a tub with so little 'FAE' that most would consider nearly suffocating the organism, where in fact it has plenty of 02 to grow healthy.
Holes have there place...i did years without holes before finding shroomery and yes cubes are weeds and will grow in the shittiest of conditions but molds also love stale air.

I don't think you can get stale air in an unmodified tub with the lid put off center, not even with the lid upside down. Actually I think it gets more air than a tub with holes and poly. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure.

All my jars are shit except one PF jar.
Even the PF jars that didn't get inoculated are very moldy. Nasty powdery green mold. Gonna make fresh spore to agar plates soon. I gotta be inoculating with mold or something shit.
Did just harvest one 25 gram seemingly albino PF fruit though

For the record, this tub with taped holes (which can be considered unmodded) was grown with the lid upside-down and was totally neglected.
They sucked the sub nearly dry. If I had bottom-watered squirting some water down the sides with a syringe I'm pretty sure I had gotten thicker fruits.

Just hopping on this unmodified train. Seems pretty awesome. What about stacking totes like you say. Should you miscue the lids slightly and stack like that?

Does parafilm stop molds from entering? I have a master plate in the fridge from a friend for a long time now, parafilm wrapped, never opened by me. I have some mold pasty plates in the fridge I guess from old fridge shit. Anyway I'm asking if my parafilmed 100% clean plate from a friend last year is still gonna be clean. I know one plate from the same friend I brought out last month still grew, but I had used it a few times and grew green mold. Either from my lack of sterile technique or maybe multiple opening and closing of the plate.

I miss you guys. You all were my friends when I had none (and still don't have any) but my mold farm isn't much to talk about.
I just don't know how to dial it in. I could just try a billion PF cakes, but damn I wanna excel at bulk.

And deep clean the shit out of your place, chances are that all your mold problems raised your spore count considerably. Wash the walls and every surface with bleach water, get a HEPA air purifier if you can.
