It's not going to work...The only unit like that that i've seen that might work ok has a diffuser built in front of the fan to distribute the airflow..
You probably only get laminar flow just in front of the fan...The Filter Shop sells theses units in Canada...Great for a clean room ceiling.
Shit I just ordered two βLaminar flow hoodsβ that look just like that.. I thought the deal was to good to be true, any way I can salvage my purchase? Can the hepa filters still be used if I get a different fan and build a box? Fuck fuck fuck. Damn impulse buys!
Brand: MICROZONE Model: LAMINAR FLOW BENCH HOOD MPN: FFM-2-4-A
Heres the brochure http://www.microzone.com/media.php?mid=257

I cant read it well but it kinda almost looks like 0.4 resistance which is even lower..

How bad did I goof? Can I use the hepa or should I try to cancel the order although its probably too late now it was made 2 days ago.

so if I just used the filter and bought a sufficient blower, built a box around it and added a pre filter... Could I still build a hood with the unit I bought?

You can induce fruiting conditions immediately after spawning... What container is this in? Does it have holes?

It can colonize in a week, and you can out into fruiting conditions right away,if pressed for time. You would be good.for new years!

I confess I've been lazy and the corner of the basement where I keep my projects to dump and clean has stacked up. I am curious now though. This really old bin I thought was totally done from mucor sprouted a few shrooms. Like it should totally be dead. This thing was a mess. The recent ones are strange too. The mold looks like it's disappearing and being replaced with mycelium. Also I see tons of hyphal knotting on the sides of the containers. I want to throw them out but I also want to see what happens at the same time. I suppose they are closed off and aren't harming anything where they are at. I'm just really curious if the pin mold is feeding off the substrate or the cubensis mycelium. If it's just feeding off the substrate then the healthy cubensis should eventually beat it out. Especially if I don't really see the pin mold anymore. Anyways I am curious. What have others experience with tubs with pin mold been? I wonder if more people than not have had pin mold infections that have gone unnoticed because they blended in so well and the cubensis just caught up to it and took over.
Edit: After some research I found my answers. It competes for substrate and can in some cases overtake the mycelium. It doesn't seem to actually eat the shrooms though. It's just basically a tug of war and a shitty thing to have around in your grow room. After reading a lot on the subject I have decided to give my grow room that deep cleaning I've been planning for awhile. I've also learned about the spread of a lot of other contaminants as well.
Also anyone who ever tries to tell me that contaminants don't grow on colonized grain or coir can suck a ****. That's bad information.

It's a possibility but I would be very careful to not damage the filter while trying to remove it from the fan unit.
I know that Gr0wer uses a filter with like .4 resistance. Maybe shoot him a message and ask how he managed to up his resistance.

Nope, Tarragon oyster (Gourmet, lignicolous), same recipe also works for cubensis, although you may need more sugar, and a different pH. Both oyster and cubensis will utilize ureic and ammonical nitrogen, I cant say for other types of mycelium.

Ive seen pin mold a handful of times. Not sure how you would confuse thst with cube myc but... That still means your spawn is dirty
Colonized grain/coir is contam resistant. Think of it like a cheap watch. Its water resistant but dont submerge it in water.

Here's an interesting quote to determine Mucor from Rhizopus...
"If in doubt whether a whitish mycelium is Mucor or not, inoculate some bread with some mycelium covered kernels and incubate at a warm temperature. If the mold is Mucor, it will sporulate in a few days and be easy to identify."

The only times I've had pin molds it was on my Oyster blocks. I had it happen twice on 200 or so at a shot...I fucked up the pasteurizing (got too hot) and I was running on Spelt hulls.

Journal updates, after various tests:
WL-Tek (single recipe + microwave guide), T-Gel agar (assembly + microwave guide), Cellulose alternative (assembly). Feel free to use a normal pressure cooker and adjust the guides to suit. WL-Tek works with any pellets.
Tip: If you are using different macro-micro nutrient brands, test it on small amounts (20-25g).

Has anyone heard from the user Jacob Storm? I have some jars colonizing with some spores he gave away a while ago but I cannot find any trace of the old giveaway thread nor our PMs.
Edit: Sorry I meant to post this in the OTD Cult thread.
