Does anyone omit the verm from coir subs? Do you still use 4qts of water if hydrating a brick without verm added?

Yes use a litle less or a litte more depending on the specific type and size of coir you have. I mix my spawn with only hydrtated coir and no verm. Tho I do case my tubs with a mix of coir and verm, I like this texture for a casing layer so far.

Yeah like tryptkaloids said it's not really good for spawn, but I've seen some impressive grows from bacterial spawn (metabolites are usually a response to bacteria). The reason people say don't spawn it is because of the higher risk of nasty contams so unless you're riding on that spawn alone I'd throw a layer of coir/verm on it and fruit it in vitro.
I've got a couple tubs from knowingly bacterial spawn that are damn near colonized but it's my last time growing cubes so I'm not worried about contaminating my grow area. It's gonna be a minute before I do anything besides truffles.
Thanks for the advice, I'm not riding on the jar. I have lots of agar plates in the works and a lc. I've just seen a bunch of mixed opinions on the metabolites but more lean toward no good.
I haven't tried truffles yet. Now i shall look for a tek on them.

I dont use any verm in my coir subs.
I sprinkle a thin layer of coir on top and thats it. Theres absolutely no need for verm in your coir sub.

I'd never use 3 week old grains that weren't PC'd after prep.

Yes. I figured it would be ok. Was kind of worried about all the moisture shorting it out. But the tubes are plastic and it's coated in a decent amount of enamel paint. Should be fine I guess.

If she didn't use SFD lids, maybe the lack of GE halted it a bit? No clue, but I'm sure they're not good if she prepped them. If they are, I DARE HER TO EAT A HANDFUL!

if nothing grew in there it's more likely from too much fae than not enough. Dry grains will grow less then wet grains with no ge. Extremophiles like being deprived of o2

Been a busy morning, drying mushrooms, threw a spent sub out after like 4 flushes, cleaned tshit, just made substrate and introduced another minimono into fruiting.
I want to try something different with this minitub though, I taped up 2 holes diagonally on the bottom of each and filled the rest with polyfil because I was misting the mono 2-3 times per day.
The latest tub looked like this and constantly dry

Hope what I did helps this next tub run better/keep moisture.

Well she used canning lids so it's air-tight.
