Those are nice! I usually sit a humidifier above mine. I think they are ready to pick now.

That's always my worry for when I star growing more than 8 bags. Right now I feel my GermGuardian is good enough. But I do want to get one of those cheap greenhouses off target with the two vent holes at the top and set it up with ait circulation through one hole and exhaust through the other and a humidifier. I don't want to end up with lung damage or respiratory illness.

hehe. Your worried more about your cubes than your lungs. I'd totally be happy if I grew oysters as a contam versus mold. At least I could eat them. But I do get you on this. I think my coir that I left out one time was trying to grow oysters. It was on the bottom shelf where I grow my oysters and the lid was slightly ajar and it looked and smelled a lot like oyster mycelium but I disposed of it because I didn't want to take the chance. Plus I don't use leftover coir unless I'm going to dump it int to make sterile substrate for something.
Speaking of which I can't remember exactly how the recycling process goes. Do I use spent cube sub for oysters? I was thinking I could start mixing my spent cube sub into my bags I'm going to sterilize.

Shouldn't the humidifier be beneath whatever you're increasing humidity for?

Not the same species, but I'm successfully growing LM by alternating indoors and out. At night, I'll put my blocks outside where it's like 42F and 80+ RH, but inside my grow area during the day. I use a space heater and keep it 70F, but don't have a GH for constant FAE or humidity. I've been putting them in my SAB when I'm not using it and draping the sides and bottoms with wet towels. I put on my HEPA filter once in a while for airflow and it seems to get the job done when alternating. Not optimal, but an option above monotubs for oysters. There's nowhere near enough FAE to promote the optimal oyster formation. You only eat the cap so long stems are pointless.

So I've always been unsure of my PC (AA921) working correctly. Anybody have advice on the following issues?
1) No matter what setting I have the stove on, my gauge never reads 15 PSI; my weight goes berserk long before it. I think 13.5 is the highest it's read. For the past year, I've had 2 quarters taped to the weight and this has allowed for less jiggling, but the gauge still doesn't read higher. The weight should be more reliable than the gauge, so I assume my gauge sucks?
2) I have a constant hissing. I've heard it's normal, but I feel like I'm losing tons of water on a 2-hour cycle. After 10 quarts go in, the water level is like 1/4 - 1/3 up the jar. At the end, I'm sometimes left with far less than an inch! It's like the valve or weight is crooked or warped or something and just constantly releasing steam.
WTF is going on with this thing? Just an inaccurate gauge and normal water level loss?

Id add weight to the regulator.
I got mine with 2 quarters and 2 nickels. Lowest burner setting(on power burner) and im at 18-20psi all day. No hissing or spitting. No water loss.
Or your gauge is off. Id listen to the rocker though. If its giggling? Your at 15psi no matter what the gauge says. Either way .... weigh down the regulator.

I have this exact gas burner on the floor, no settings, so you can adjust the flame as accurately as you need. And then I do this.
Or you could even do this. Whatever you have laying around the house to fix the rocker in place and a folded towel. The babysitting you need to do is negligible.

I'm definitely not down to add that much weight to the rocker, especially when it's likely my gauge doesn't read correctly. Sounds like a terrible combo. Maybe I'll email AA and see what they say.

Well I think there's no risk of anything bad happening. The worst that can happen is you falling asleep, pressure builds up and rubber plug blows out. No biggie besides a ruined batch haha
Thank god the guys I ordered the stopcock and red plug from didn't send them in the end and refunded me without giving me any reason, what an unncessary waste of money that would've been, 97,24 USD to be exact.

I wouldn't feel confident in doing that. Are you doing this with an aa?

You're right, in your case it wouldn't be a good idea. Maybe you need a new gauge. As for the vent pipe or rocker I wouldn't bother, if you do what I posted no steam will scape at all.

Sounds like your gauge is off. Google ‘pressure canner gauge testing’ or something like that to see where you can take it near you. They’ll test it for you.
I’m having issues with mine so I bought the parts to upgrade it, over pressure plug and control valve with no weight

Yes, AA. If you do this you can adjust the pressure to GTFO*. If you want the guage to read 20 psi, so be it. I like the guage to range from 27 to 29 psi. At first I was scared of going more than 25 psi, but Ham reassured me the black plug can take at least 30 psi no problem. I like Ham.

I have always felt like the bigger name brand can handle more. Like as a safety precaution, I would think they could safely hold more than the emergency blow out can handle, by a fair margin. I image AA, being able to handle like 40 psi and be fine. Think about air pressure in our car tires. We are dealing with metal, and YES heat which can weaken metal, but in the big picture of things, the temps we work at are jack shit compared to what it takes to make metal this thick pliable, or even melt.

I wouldn't do it with a PC. Maybe if I have the extra money too buy a new one I'll force a blowout. I'm pretty sure the one on mine is rated to blow at 21psi.
