Ferather i have a couple of questions. Is the trace sugar grow suppose to be somehow contam resistand or have a really low chance of contaming or have I misunderstood this? (i often misunderstand) And also, how fast is the culture growing right now? How many mm/day would you say?

The trace sugar is low enough to not get germination for very long periods, whilst enough to improve live mycelium. I can give you mm-day soon, I'm not using starch or spawn, everything except the sugar is wood and leaves.
There's a few variables in comparison to the method you would usually use, such as grain or seed. I germinated spores on a wood peg, and WL-Tek, the peg was transferred to the tea bag.
Cubensis, birthed, and grew out on modified lignicolous materials, no molds.

So I'm just staring at these fine looking oyster bags and I was thinking. What if I took one of the bags and expanded it into several other bags. That's how sawdust spawn bags are made right. They mix in some grain spawn colonize them and then expand. Anyways it seems like a pretty sweet idea.
Also these fucking oysters are on fire. It must be because the jars were heavily consolidated when I spawned them.
But this idea is in my head now. I could easily expand into another 6-8 bags.
I could do the same with my lions mane too I bet. Shit. I can have a whole farm going by doing this. Why didn't I think of this last time. The shit you think of when you are laid up in bed. Now I just have to get the energy to make all these bags of sterilized sawdust again.

Shame on the mold, the growth looks very healthy and vigorous. I love working with seeds over totally naked grain.

Been 8 days since I pced that weird "ship thing"
No visible growth no cloudiness looks same the same as 8 days ago.
So I decided to aspirate into a sterile 12ml syringe today. Felt alot better then pouring my lc that was done I'm going to visually inspect daily and in about a week I'll put it on agar.
I didn't think it would get this far I figured after 3 days it would be a Cloudy mess

Cubensis to WL-Tek:
Looks like 0.5g of sucrose and 1.8g of black tea is enough for live mycelium. I will have to wait a few days for it to climb up the sides for images.
The growth looks good so far, it did not stall, thankfully.

One sliced finger and a 27qt and 3 2 qt glad containers later I have cubes going again. I wish the fucking asshole that used to live upstairs didn't steal my good box cutter. Scalpels are not a substitute for box cutters. I forgot I had the scalpel in my hand for s sec and I didn't want to put it down in case I accidentally forgot to put it away. Almost cut a cheek too. Kind of glad it's my spare scalpel and the blade was dull or I may have got a good gash. Lining bins is my most hated activity ever especially with my back all jacked up. This was an incredibly unpleasant experience but WORTH IT!
I realized I over calculated on the sub so I put the extra sub and grains in a few glad containers. Figured it was wasteful to toss. How big should I make the GE holes and how many should I make per container? Also what is the recommended placement?

How important is cleaning your grain strainer?

just do it . unclean shit begets unclean shit. It will just be that much harder to clean once it gets so bad you have to clean it. hot water and a dish rag and you probably don't need soap if you get to it right away. I would say it's important.

Interesting. I would say not important at all. I dump hot ass water through it while steam drying oats and then load them into the pressure cooker. What's going to live on it? And even if it did, it's getting killed when the grains go into the PC, right? But then again, my shit never has anything stuck on or inside it.

I always rinse mine off for 10-15 seconds after using then let it dry and put it back in the cabinet

the strainer always seems to have a grain residue leftover on it. I imagine it would dry long before it would get nasty but fuck you're already straining into a sink or shower. what's rinsing your strainer take 1x10-9000 more effort?

Ewwe. Clean that fucking thing. The dried up grain starch will attract insects and it gets sticky and nasty. How is that even a question?
Ok. I'll loosen the lid then.

I haven't given mine a proper thorough cleaning either.. it's not too obvious what it's used for. I think we're dealing with some exaggeration.

Can't even imagine this happening unless you're not even hitting it with the sink sprayer or anything and then storing that in a trash bag and misting it a few times a day.
