I'm pretty stoked. The restaurant I sell my edibles to just told me they want to start selling reishi tincture. They are an all vegan health food restaurant that prides themselves in serving medicinal foods. She asked about my reishi tincture as I've given her dried reishi before and she said she would be down to buy tincture at 20 bucks per 1.5fl oz bottle!
I have damn near a half gallon ready to go right now

Awesome. That's my next project, too. I'll grow Tamps to complement my PE jars. If I can find Matias Romero, I'll have a Steven Pollock trifecta!

That's so fucking cool. I can't imagine the high you get from selling your effort grown and loved fungi.
It must get you off so hard.

Man I really need to get some reishi!
How beautiful of an organism. Plus, even though Iβve heard it tastes terrible, Iβd like to try consuming reishi extract and see if it helps my health at all.

That's funny I do the same thing. My mom gets a fat bottle from me for xmas every year and whenever she wants it
I use 190proof everclear and soaked a qp in enough to cover the dry mushrooms. Let soak for a few weeks. I then filter the alcohol out, use a makeshift press if you can to press out as much alcohol from the fruitbody as you can. Then set the liquid to the side. In a pot or crockpot I use an excess of distilled water to make a simmer decoction with the saved mushroom powder for about a half day. Once that's done, filter out and press as much liquid as you can out of the mushroom matter.
You want your extract to be roughly 25% alcohol by volume so if the final volume of alcohol after filtration was, lets say, 1000ml or 1L, you would want your water extract to be at about 5000ml or 5L since your starting alcohol is only 95% abv. This is why you use an excess of water, so you can boil it down to the desired volume.
You could also dilute your everclear to 50% and use that as the alcohol extract then just add equal portions of your alcohol extract and water extract together in the end to form a mixture that is 25% alcohol. I prefer the other method because the higher alcohol percentage helps to absorb more triterpenes from the dried matter.
And dude that grow is beautiful

If i had any idea how to get rid of them or even where to ask id try growing and selling edibles. Dont think there is much call for it where i am. At least ive never seen or heard of it. Not even any fine dining places i could sell em to.

Dude I just looked up locally owned restaurants in the downtown area. You know one's that advertise that they are farm to market and healthy living and what not. They don't require any licensing and can buy from whomever they choose.
Looked up a few on google, called them, asked if I could speak to the head chef because they usually handle the purchasing and made an appointment with one. I brought a small sample that I let them have, like a half pound, and then they called me back saying they wanted to make it a regular thing. Much easier than I originally thought. I was super intimidated at first but it worked out!
I also tried hitting up the farmers markets but you gotta find one that's cheap because it sucks paying 50+ bucks and making almost nothing to show for it. The one I go to is 10 bucks to set up but I usually just give the head chick a lb or so of shiitake to cover costs.

I've never had them, and sadly I live in the US so no imported truffles for me. I'll just have to get ahold of some spores.

Sorry for reposting, i asked this question in bosleys thread with no response:
If i wanted to adapt bosley's bag tekto a pc and sab instead of a pasteurizer and flow hood is that possible?
Does the length of the bag matter? Could i cut it down some? how many 1 gallons bags of 50/50 coir/grain could fit in a presto 23 quart? Is 180 minutes enough time to PC 4 bags? If i want to use slurry pf cakes/corn meal plates, would the slurry stick to the bag due to the angle in a sab?

Do you need a license for tincture? I thought you needed something special to sell any mushroom you modify or whatever? Like it's cool to sell LM or whatever fruits, but you can't dry it, powder it and capsule it. Congrats, nate. That's sick.
Jonova,
Yes, you can use bags in a SAB, although they're cramped and kind of annoying. Definitely doable though. And with the slurry on the side, I don't think that would be a big deal since you can close the bag up and shake it outside of the SAB. But I'll let tom correct me since he's the expert.

I have a desire to fruit from every different P cubensis variety I can get spores for and then make my own spore prints.
My plan is to put the spores to agar, clean them up and then get in vitro pins to clone. From there I want to inoculate a LC or a few grain wedges (save the clone plate in the fridge) and fruit.
If a new variety gives me fruits I'm more fond of, I'll incorporate it into my main grows until new a new variety surpasses it and make a master LC from the clone plate for exponential growth (use 0.5 mL of the master LC to make 100 mL batches of LC for inoculation, thus limiting generations).
Any reason why this plan wouldn't work?
Or rather, how do you all go about selecting your main variety/clone and incorporate new strains/clones/projects into your myco work.
