The sub was completely submerged for that time. He calls me about 2 days after the flood and I go over and see a full canopy explosion with the sub floating on 3 inches of water.
On another note, I used to pick fruits from this field that would flood during a heavy rain. One day I went out and was two foot deep in water about halfway through the field. So i go back 2 days later and cubes and pans everywhere. The dung piles were completely under water for a few days. Then they would explode about two days later! Nature is cool.

I might try it again with a cake, I learned to add "walls" to my indoor grows to build up good humidity. A plant pot and a cake have great results mimicking outdoor optimizations (see my guide).
Pretty easy to assemble, add holes or roll the bag down to suit your needs.

Tookitooki said: What effects the speed of spawn colonization more? I read people can colonize jars in 5-8 days. I can only come close to that when I run lc,. And that's putting 10cc plus in each jar. I'll drop a whole plate of agar in a jar and I still get an average of 12-16 days or more. Doesn't seem to matter what culture I run. My PE clone is the only one that is slower then the rest. Would love to shorten my colonization times.
The agar is not "rich" its "enough" or "minimal", grains (starch) are more complex than just sugar, starch also has requirements. Sugars have far less requirements, for example not so pH dependent, they are usually soluble and "fast" to use.
I've compared WL-Tek + sugar, and, WL-Tek + flour, the sugar (glucose) by far is the fastest. However, at the same time, WL-Tek + sugar, germinates contamination faster.

G2G is the fastest I've done. With 4-5 day colonization i get 5-10 with LC

- spores - agar wedges - tiger drop (whole agar puck) - LI - LC ??- slurry??
Slurry should be suspended tiny units + solubles.

Grain soak LC is kicking ass for me, probably because the mycelium is all read accustomed to the grains nutrition. I know there is more technical mumbo jumbo on it but yea.

Slurry is insanely fast too, 4 days max. I posted a mini tek in the thread "mush cult life hacks" on how to do slurries without a blender.

i havnt really done much g2g which is why i even forgot to list it. as for the LC, maybe its a recipe thing? I used grain soak water from the same grains i inoculated and whenever i can coat the jars evenly they all seem to pop around 4 days and i feel good to spawn em on the 5th. but if i get any patches and gotta shake it, it will slow things down for sure.

I did g2g for years and years. But its not the fastest method. Its great for use after your first inoculation. But I love liquids BC I dont have to shake jars anymore after the initial inoculation. Definitely makes a difference with 20 plus quarts.
Comparing LC to g2g is like apples to oranges. You may use 1-5cc volume of LC compared to 2 plus tablespoons of grain spawn as inoculum. The beauty of LC is you can create a shit ton of inoculum from a small amount. Compare it by volume to be fair. If you use 2 tablespoons of LC your jars are going to colonize pretty fast.

Shaking a bunch of jars can get a little tiresome.

I really only shake after after g2g i find it fast enough to not need to after. I love my lc though so idc what method i use it just needs to be clean

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

I love all methods. G2g and LC, Li, slurry are all awesome depending on the situation. One downside to slurry though is that it creates far too much spawn far too fast. And these days I dont need that much spawn so I dont use it. Very useful for 200 quarts and bag spawn.

I think "clean" has a lot to do with speed as well.

well ya thats a given. theres no use in discussing the speeds of unclean spawn runs

Fuck surgical scalpels, right? I thought it would surpass an X-Acto knife, but those are much better. I lost one scalpel blade, and I'm sure I'll find it by stepping on it or some shit.

Cubensis on a "spent" tea bag test, still growing:

Still no signs of mold-other yet.

Much what I was getting at is some times us less experienced people think we have a clean culture when we really have a hitch hiker. We end up with an OK grow but it was slow to colonize and fruit.

Which method is best is subjective. As long as it's clean, you win.

I was having issues with contams for a while. I think I have them mostly under control now. I didn't have any luck with li, lc was hit and miss. So I decided to just drop agar until I was fully confident in my techniques. My next run of jars I'll go back to my lc. I just wanted to make sure I was in a normal timeframe with my agar drops. I'm just happy to not see green in any of them.
