I have some serious questions for anyone who has tried using spent mycelium substrates, without modification, in the past.
1. Would you say the spent substrate ran out of (and any combo): Carbon, macro-micro nutrients, water? 2. Was fresh grain-seed spawn used to inoculate the un-modified spent substrate, and what ratio? 3. Did the end result produce the inoculated mycelium, and did it yield any fruits? 4. Was there any of the original spawn, and what was it's condition (wet-dry)?
----
I usually put a spent block-cake in a plant container cased outdoors. I'm wondering out mixing it 50:50 with fresh substrate first.

This is a graph from coindesk. This is from today, a 12 hour period that shows just how much bitcoin fluctuates. Hundreds of dollars at a time every few minutes. Not saying bitcoin can't make you money, but it can also lose you a lot.

On topic, I think Ham has used spent cube subs to grow oysters.

yeah bitcoin fluctuates, but the overall consesus is that it will continue to rise...think about it, there is a finite amount of bitcoin, it has a cap. Eventually all the bitcoin that can be mined, will have been mined...this is the FIRST cryptocurreny to ever have been used in human history...it will always have value...it has a finite amount of resources and has ingenuity, given the fact that it is the FIRST cryptocurrency, bitcoin will always have value. Eventually someday the price of 1 bitcoin will become 100,000$

Ham did do that.
Left the spent subs outside on a tarp in the sun for a few days if I remember right.

Was this a spent oyster sub with fresh grain spawn, enriched? Thanks cron.

Yes outdoors, you get the heavy rain effect (or should). This hydrates the substrate, and allows the mycelium to utilize solubles. Rain water is usually slightly acidic, and contains carbon, which will react with some materials and produce solubles.
I can get + 300-400g of fruits, from a (semi-spent) block, cased, but I'm thinking of mixing.

The mycelium should also remove bio waste (have a wee).

Also here are today's surface images.

Yes it was 1:10 spawn to straw and grass clippings flushed four times...was then broken up and mixed with a qt of lepista spawn with no new bulk added.
I also use old subs for my baeo beds which has no rhyme or reason it can consist of anything

Cool thanks. I have access to unused straw, as it happens. I'll try 25:75 spent to fresh, mixed.

Does anyone know of a contaminant that mimics cubensis mycelium?
I have a multispore Amazon jar from the 11th that is 40 percent done while all the other spore jars are barely doing anything. It just seems too fast. But it looks just like cubensis mycelium. It's messing with my brain.

Whatever it is it has me spooked. Could even be a rogue spore from an oyster. Whatever it is it looks just like mycelium. I'm going to watch it to see what it does but I refuse to use it. If there is something out there in my house that looks this much like cube myc I'm going to freak.

I've got a suspicious culture myself, it's growth rate is pretty normal and I haven't seen any apparent sporophores assuming vert has an obvious sporophore. I've got 2 different transfers I'm letting sit and hopefully pin...if not then I spawned a mini of vert and nocced up 9 grain jars with it...I'm with you on the paranoia factor, I just started doing grains and bulk. Probably should've held off until I had something I knew for sure was cube myc...but I was eager and that might be my downfall.

White molds blow I feel like I've been transferring mold but I think it's just this agar I got.

Could very well be dude. What you say reminds of that time I got this agar and all the cultures were growing very slowly and shitty looking, it was almost like mold. I actually posted a pic of one of the cultures here back then and everybody thought it was mold, but I knew it wasn't because those cultures were perfectly good to use and they'd grow normally on grains. I was racking my brain at the time, could not figure out what was happening, but finally I discovered it was the agar all along. Did a thread about it too.

Wow it probably is my agar then and I've had tons of clean growth
The reason i think this is because one of my cultures was extremely rizo on it but none of the other was figured I was transferring junk. Today I noticed the rizo culture was beginning to look like the others. Oh well
Did that agar you were using solidify at a cooler temperature? <100°F vs ~115°f?

Hm I noticed this stuff solidified at a lower temps.
Figured it was impurities. Looks like I'm going to the Asian market today.

Yeah I would avoid the fancy looking stuff, like expensive bottles of agar-agar. Mrmazda recommended me a very cheap agar-agar and it was rhizo city from there on.

This shit was super cheap 23 bucks for 500gs. I usually pay 1.49/20gs at the Asian place. Guess the extra penny is worth it. I just don't enjoy using full bars would rather use powdered agar.
