Just wanted to update this, the guy who sent me the spores messaged me saying that he meant cubensis cambodian, not pan cambo.

Hopefully my agar has some growth today...
I think using agave nectar didn't work good. I used a whole teaspoon. Now I'm seeing a lot of people just use a drop of Karo or whatever.

Here's what I got.
I don't think my agar is working very well. I tried very hard, and that's what's bothering me the most. Feel like I put the time in to do this right, and it's not coming together.

It looks contaminated. Toss it. Don't be disappointed. When you work with agar you have to be fast and as clean as possible. You can have great success with a SAB (still air box).

Hard to get a good photo. The lines on the outer left and right of the plate, as the middle coming from the chunk of clone, are all white lines... not to say they're good or bad. But I have a hell of A time getting a decent photo.
I used a SAB... opened my plates upside down and everything....

I'm gonna throw a live grain of WBS onto a plate today.
That will have to work.

Ah ok. Don't know that you cloned and wondered about that brown piece. Maybe you can upload a better picture. Which part of the mushroom did you use to clone?

Ah yes that's a chunk of a clone. I ripped open the Stipe and took a chunk near the top, but not quite at the cap.
I don't think I made my agar right or something. It isn't going well. Also the condensation REALLY irks me.

Post your agar recipe. I love using MEA. If you don't have malt extract laying around you can try potato dextrose agar.

I followed pastys recipe. Mostly.
Used half a cup of water, 2.5 agar, 3 or so potatoes, and for some reason thought I needed a whole teaspoon of agave nectar...I think I used too much.

 but why?
reducing the nutritions in agar mixtures provides a faster growth IME.

I thought I had to weigh out 1.4 grams of glucose. So I put a teaspoon on the scale, and wound up getting about 1.6 of agave nectar. Which was the whole teaspoon full. I think I didn't follow a recipe to a T and that's where my big error is.
Shit.

how about those potatoes? Did you just boil 3 potatoes and use that water? How did you use them in your recipe? Basically, the ratio of nutrition is important in your agar recipe.
You also have to realize a clone is going to often have contam riding along. The whole point of agar is to increase your chances. If you put all your hope and dreams into one plate, you'll quit this hobby quick. You should do every action at least 3 times so your chances increase.
What I mean is: cloning a fruit? Carefully take a biopsy to at least 3 plates. Work carefully, and cleanly. You just have to know and accept that some plates won't do as well as others. Also, the more you do, the better you get.

I used some Idaho spuds flakes I had in my cabinet. I added 3.3 grams to the simmering water.
I think I just made too nutritious agar or something. I dunno. Maybe I just suck.

Yeah that all sounds way too nutritious. Too much nutes is a bad thing, the sugar gives too much edge to bacteria and the extra potato is gonna male any leap off growth sluggish. Looking at the plate I'm going to suggest it was a older fruot you cloned. With mature fruits you need to be really damn clean with your biopsy. Any sloppy work results in crazy bacteria that the older and slower tissue cannot outrun.
Cloning younger fruits results in a faster reverting quicker and more aggressive culture.
Agar is about practice. It will teach you where you fucked up. Learn from it and you will learn much. You only get good by doing. Call this a learning experience and do better next time.

Can i reuse the glad containers? Kinda looks like the agar would just pop out in a nice disc shape. I'm down to trash these all and try again.
Yes that clone was from mature shroom flesh. Damn you know what you're looking at Pasty.
