Now when I think about it I think my black tea had vanilla flavor. Wonder if it is the vanilla that causes the myc to stop growing.

Maybe, its a variable, I use the extra cheap crap, still cubensis will need a normal recipe to work. Since it cannot utilize the tea like lignicolous mycelium do (laccase), you need sugar.
Side-by-side, normal agar vs with added tea, and see which is cleanest. Given that a cubensis can grow, many other things can too.
So far those with success have used ME with the tea.

I don’t have ME but I don’t see why BRF wouldn’t work since it has sugars? Also mycolorade uses a weak recipe at 1% ME and 2% Tea.
Wonder what % BRF I would use to mimic te 1% ME sugar contents. I think you might have a clue about this Ferather?

Well the last time I combined tea bags with BR water, the oyster went potty. Brown rice is full of soluble starch, so yes, talk to Bod about BRF.
Remember the tea is an antibiotic additive in this case. It's alternative to other materials, not foolproof.

What's more efficient, doing bags with grains and substrate and fruiting in bags? Or doing bags of grains and putting that into a standard tub of substrate?
obviously the ready made bags are one less step and more direct, but if it yields substantially less then maybe it's not so worth it

1QT of spawn is still 1QT of spawn wether it’s in a bag or box, it’s entirely up to the grower how it’s done. However most people will recommend a flow hood when working with bags, it can be done in a SAB but with much more difficulty than just doing jars

Would these 2mil bags be good for grains in the PC? Says food safe.

I just about managed to get images of day 4. Young mycelium, on my "Sugar peg tek". It's growing from the peg, no doubt for the sugar, no obvious contams.
Hopefully it will be better fed by day 7-8, no issues so far.

With either method the bags need to be sterilized. The pre-mixed bags will be a less efficient use of PC time.
Yields by weight (biological efficiency) shouldn't be too different. Yield per PC cycle, hr of labor, sq ft. of grow space, etc. could be drastically different depending on how YOU grow.

Sounds like you hit the target sugar level, if it's slower than normal, inhibitory action is taking place.
Can you list the amounts such as water, amount of tea, and procedure?
Thanks.
