So just kind of want to weigh the pros and cons. I got this sweet ass KSSS culture with the coolest little pins growing on it. On the other hand though something weird is growing in the corner where there was a crack in the glass. It's like reddish black looking. Whatever nasty it is the KSSS was able to grow over it for the most part and to me I feel like it might be worth opening to sample the plate far away from this area. But I'm afraid to open it and let out some kind of monster from Stranger Things.

So I did A>BRF on the 18th, with a polyfil lid and no dry verm of course, in half pints. My jars are almost fully colonized and I plan on crumbling and spawning to 50/50 coir/verm at 1:2 in a 31qt mini mono.

I know when doing grain to bulk you don't have to consolidate, but will I still have to since I'm using brf? It appears that it has been colonizing through the middle too, like so

And should I still dunk the cakes, or will a properly prepped sub provide enough moisture?

I couldn't find a whole lot of info on a>brf or spawning to a bulk sub. I'm just trying to get my feet wet with bulk subs and agar and I figured since I already have brf and half pints why not use that?

Just make sure its fully colonized, i was told not to dunk, take into account its 2/3 verm so hi spawn ratio.

Cat I'll think you'll be fine if its covered besides its already in your house.

@Xx Look up pics of cube myc and get fimilar with its morphology, u wanna get that thin leading edge thats nice an organized.
Im pretty sure thats myc but a better pic will help.

I would fruit the cake as a cake if it was me. You already have agar going so just get some grains properly prepped. Wheat seed for me. And put your agar to grain.
By the time your cakes are fruiting your grain will be ready to spawn to coir or poo. Your choice.
People talk smack on cakes, but I like them. That's how I got my cherry. They hold a special place in my heart. I'm about to do do another cake grow myself.

Ive had hood luck with munches blenderless LI to brf cakes. I use the tall half pints because that's all I could find at the time and they work fine for me.

Good luck man. It's my bed time!

Thanks lemur, that didn't cross my mind, so in that respect I'll just spawn at 1:1.

Part of the reason I'm spawning the cakes to a bulk sub, Romeo, is because I've got 2 batches of half pints that will be ready at about the same time. I don't have room for another sgfc. If this works out I have every intention of switching to grain. Thanks though bro, I wish it was my bed time instead I gotta go work.

I'm trying a thing. I need a very small amount of worm castings to try casing a plate so I'm wrapping it in foil and leaving it in the dehydrator for an hour.

Just cased this plate. Don't worry I cleaned off the pins. I have no idea wtf I'm doing though. Just stuck some pasturized worm castings mixed with vermiculite on it cause I'm out of coir. Should I close it up till it colonizes. How much casing does it need?

Well it looks like about 3/4. Should I take some out. Am I supposed to close the jar till it colonizes. I got it sitting under the humidifier right now.

This question is a little more important. I inoculated my jars with a mycelium liquid syringe from a plate. Half the jars have amazing growth. Like shit is going crazy. The other half not really anything. The weird thing is they look fine. I'm thinking maybe I didn't get enough material into those jars. Maybe the first syringe I used for half the jars wasn't potent enough. IDK. It's just weird. Should I add more of the syringe to the other jars if they don't smell bad and see what happens or wait? It's been since Friday.

Building my flow hood made it soooo much easier to do agar work that I actually get into it now, kind of becoming an agar junkie.

Here lately I've been having pretty good success, but I'd love a fh. I just don't have the space, I barely have enough room for my sgfc and mini mono unless I start stacking tubs in the living room lol
