Since PW already did the tub grow, I'm going to a toilet bowl grow and poop in my sink or something in the interim. Go big or go home.

I can't figure out How to use my pressure cooker. About to throw the bitch in the yard. The piece of dogshit just won't spin. It'll hiss, but nothing like the videos show. Unless I cough or sneeze and it spins like a mad man. Ridiculous. Probably no water left. Turned it off after two hours of trying to get it going correctly haha

It's a mirro 22qt.
Not the standard you all use here, the Presto. If I remember right, very few have the Mirro like mine with the spinner...
Firing it back up and trying again. Wasn't dry on water, but didn't hear it rumbling. I've obviously not been using it correctly, because the jars that were in it previously that I cooked for 2.5 hours are...very moldy. Never opened. So I'm not using it right, I guess.

that happened to me the other night, after 3 hours of running the weight never jiggled, it wasnt until i turned it off i realized i had a weight from a different PC. I woke up at 6am this morning to run it again with the proper weight.

moab, if your seeing mold in your jars then it is not a pc problem. ' The jars are contamming after the pc cycle.
The lids or filters are failing. NO DOUBT.
I swear I've been over this with you. sorry maybe not you but it should be common knowledge.
Insufficient sterilization results in bacteria not mold especially if you are running it for two hours.

and I don't think you need it to be spinning to be at pressure.
here is a passage from the instructions:
STEAM ESCAPE THROUGH THE VENT TUBE The movement (jiggling) of the pressure control and release of small amounts of steam from the Vent Tube during cooking is normal. The purpose of releasing steam is to maintain a constant internal pressure. The formation of water droplets around the Vent Tube at the start of cooking is normal. This is caused by condensation of the steam leaving the cooker and coming in contact with the cooler metal. After he lid heats up, the water will disappear
COOKING Place the cooker on high heat until the Pressure Control begins to release steam. The Pressure Control will rock or jiggle when the cooker reaches its pressure. Lower the heat so that the pressure control rocks gently. Generally a setting of 'medium' or 'low' will be right. Count cooking time from the first jiggle of the Pressure Control. See Cooking Time Table, page 14 for approximate cooking times

if your still having this much trouble with pcing then you may want to get one with a gauge.
just seems your too worried about the wrong things and you can't check yourself because no one is using the same pc.
either way most pc's work about the same.
you want the pressure to just barely be escaping through the weight. not a loud hissing a very quiet one

Think I got the PC going good. I lubed up the weight and black screw etc... seems to not be nearly as stiff now. It's not spinning, but I have a nice tssss every 7-10 seconds. It sounds good.
Here's a pic of the jars I removed from my PC that had been in there for a few months. As you can see the foil never came off most. I made the lids exactly as Azur showed me when I got the filters. Small hole, filter underneath, and cap it.

I highly doubt steaming qt jars of grain for 3 hours would allow any mold to survive but I guess I must believe you. I just want to see an experiment documented to prove it.
I still stand by If you are pcing grain especially with an elevated pressure for 2 hours with the weight on even if it's only a few psi then I am sure all mold is sterilized.

You can't let the filters/lids stay wet or stay in a humid environment for too long or they will fail.(even in the pc)
You must take them out of the pc remove the foil so the filter can dry.
I've left them in the pc for a week with no problems a few times but much longer than that and there is a good chance of filter failure.
if you take them out and let them dry then they should last until you noc them but I would use the most freshly sterilized grain possible. don't use months old sterilized grains. 2 weeks is tops for me.
