PF Tek fruited as cakes, crumbled & straight cased, or crumbled & spawned to pasteurized manure, or heat treated coir are great ways to grow with out a PC.

Does anyone know of a cheap product that I can use as slant tubes? I find a lot of "lab test tubes" on Ebay that are promoted with the text "Wedding party" and photos are of these test tubes next to a bunch of flowers at a wedding. (I have no clue what kind of marketing these test tubes have in China)
Anyone has a name of a brand of these tubes that are okay to use?

Thanks Crispy! I found cheap ones on ebay made out of "high grade polypropylene" as it says in the ad. A general search on google suggests to me that all polypropylene plastics are autoclavable, but I remember reading some time ago that PP5 is the only variety that can be PC:d, is this correct?

PP is polypropylene, 5 is the recycling code #. The only place I have seen "PP5" used is right here on the shroomery.

I use ML centrifuge tubes. They are PP5 and do fine in the PC. I got 25 shipped to me for like $4-4 off ebay. Opening is about and inch wide so easy to work in.

I was wondering why we cook our grain. I have debated on just rinsing some grain, and putting it in the PC then noccing it up to see what happens. Is there some relationship with the moisture in the grain that the mycellium likes?

Quick question guys.. can you PC BRF too long? i did my jars for 2 hours at 15psi.. and i had 8 that didn't grow anything at all (another issue) but when i dumped them the cakes were like super gooey not wet, but i stomped on them and had to clean my shoes for 10 minutes.. Not sure what the texture of 2.5 week old brf should be or if i messed up.

Try this recipe

A key point to this method is that the pf mix is a bit drier than regular pf mix.
Recipe for 24 Pf jars: 12 cups verm 6 cups brf 5.5 cups water
one half cup less water is used compared to regular pf tek mix. This is intentionally done for liquid inoculations. The pf jars are stored as masters in the fridge for later use. The lower moisture content helps keep the pf cakes longer in the fridge. The idea is that when the colonized pf jar stores its a bit drier so you don't encounter moisture building up in the jar. the consistency of most of my cakes ends up crumbling into small particles that allow me to break up with a fork easily. This allows more inoculation points when forked into a grain jar.
regular 24 pf jar recipe 12 cups verm 6 cups brf 6 cups water

Exactly what can you do inside a SAB that you can't do in front of a FH? And exactly what can you do in front of a FH do you can't inside a SAB?
I've read something about that it's not a good idea to take clones from fruits (that are covered in contams) in front of a FH because the FH would blow the contams over the sterile areas. Long time ago I read it in the forums maybe I even misunderstood.
