I do the same on my Presto but have been seriously looking at getting a sterilizer. A 25X on craigslist for 400$ near me, keep trying to talk them to at least 3 or some trades but it aint happening. Says it ws used at a tattoo/beauty shop, whatever that means. Looks brand new

I'm learning that my least favorite part of mycology is grain prep....And, I never go a night of grain prep without finding lots of little grains all over the kitchen the next day

Man I barely even think about grain prep. It's just going through the motions. Spawning and harvesting are my least favorite.

Dude its rough enough doing tons of tubs and plugging the holes as is i couldnt imagine cutting liners .. my chick had got me some that were bluish clear that fit 66qt perfect but the dollar store switched who they bought from and i cant find them again i would use those again ...
Considering they just lay in and thats it..
I pretty much stopped cleaning my jars unless they were really green which was rare for awhile but lately ita been a thing .. what do you think on thay?? I mean pc run should kill whatever right

Cutting liners is a pain until it's time to clean the tub.

I cut liners from a roll of plastic sheeting they sell at Walmart. With a tape measure and scissors, it only takes a a few minutes to cut a dozen liners that fit perfectly in a 66qt. But yeah, spawning is my least favorite part, mixing the spawn and substrate is messy and time consuming. One day i will get a cement mixer and use that to mix. one day..

My tubs are spotless when done without washing if I catch em before they spore. another advantage to the bags.
I do wash with soap and water after every run for peace of mind but only takes a few seconds.
I hated washing out tubs without a liner.
and sucks having to use one.

I think I’m going to stop by tractor supply Co. after work and pick up a bag of oats going to give it another shot tomorrow, ran out of millet and don’t wanna wait a couple days to get it from amazon. Surprisingly I can’t find straight milo or millet even at the mom and pop feed shops around here, only blends

I buy two bags at a time now 100# seems cooler.
I use 220 dry grams of oats per quart and 190ish for g2g receiving jars. Only about 103 quarts in a 50# bag thats just 10 PC runs of 10 jars.

Preciate that tidbit of info, will put it to use shortly
I really think my last run with oats was lackluster because I got my oats from a place out in the boonies where it had probably been there for awhile and it was some off brand shit that is kept outside. No matter how I prepped them they never looked half as decent as what I see everyone else post. Looking forward to another attempt

I love grain prep cause I'm not a bitch and actually like work. I use no heat the majority of the time and am rocking bags these last few runs. Loving it compared to how unused to make grain and jars.
I use 220g per jar too, that's weird bodhi. I normally just prep 2kg if I'm doing g2g. That's 200 rather than 190 per jar but still. Pretty cool to see preference and patterns objectify and manifest across two people's experiences.
