Thanks for the support, good news, I think the tub is fine. No smells other than fresh mushrooms and no discoloration. It's still isolated but I think it's gonna be ok. Plus I went ahead and bought a dehydrator today, so I'm too legit to quit now

Hey guys, I stopped my fruit from dehydrating when they still were on rhe wet side. Left it for ten hours and just went to start it up again and the fruits have a slight fermented smell. Are they toast?

I've always applied a thin layer of coir/verm on the top of my tubs, just enough to barely cover my WBS. Does it really matter, does it affect pinning, or harvesting, etc?

Eh , it varies batch to batch . More like a safeguard for excessive moisture, some people do it some people don't. People use cheesecloth some people don't. Some people say that it helps with pinning . Personally I haven't noticed a difference, but I found my way works for me .

Looks good. I use brewers LME and it works just fine. Way cheaper than using lab grade or premix too

So, when your silicone says "use entire contents within 6 months of first application" don't believe that it will still be good that long. I tried to force a clog out of the tip and the side burst open... silicone all over my hand and wedding ring. I'll have to finish making grain jars tonight after I make some mead.cleaning that shit off of my hand sucked! I had to use a steel wool scrubber! On another note, I have 12 more quart jars and I'm impatiently waiting till I can g2g and get me some shoebox in my life!

WHo knows anything about AAx models? Do you need to use the inner chamber that cuts the volume in half or can you say fuck that and use the full inner volume potential of the autoclave?
Working on making an offer on a 25 qt. with the inner chamber its only 14.5

you can ditch the air tube and the basket put a trivet in the bottom and operate it like as normal. If the basket isn't in you don't need that air vent line. I think some people leave it but tie it up to the top. I would remove it altogether

I see them for sale for less than $400 often. Seems like a good investment. I would like to be able to do all my work in one area without having to go back and forth to the kitchen
