Hey yall i need some help with my grow. I had success, and had 6 strains, then tried to copy them to agar, to which i failed. I stopped using rye grain and started using wbs but im still not haing success. I think its the lids on my jars because i am following the grain tek to a t and sterilized my syringe following another tek. My syringe is still good and so is the lc that i pulled from so i am certain my box is working fine, and that it must be my lids or my grains. Im using a self healing innoc port with polyfil in the other hole. Any advice guys? starting to lose hope here.

can you explain why its not gonna work ,please? just interesting
No, People tried it and still try it all the time. Doesn't work. that's why we know it doesn't work. No one has a lab or the desire to find out why

I inoculated my rye grain in my all in one grow bag and it's is turning a whiteish color but seems rather soggy instead of wispy . I thought maybe it was from introducing heat raising the humidity and the water settling towards the bottom (the old mycopiss) because there is no smell but am unsure is anyone familiar with this and does it sound like a problem.

I was thinking same thing any idea as to what may have caused it ordered spores and bag from reputable sources followed all procedures, bad inoculation, bad spores they seemed very light too much heat. Just so I can adjust my procedure and avoid wasting money more failed materials.

I think if you try that, it will throw off the moisture content. I know you don't want to lose what you spent, but I never had much luck with any pre-mixed substrates. Might be best to take a loss on this one. If you have some spores left, might give this a try https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19208976 Its helped me alot, Then when you get some good cultures, put them to grain jars. Multi-spore inoculation can be a gamble, but using agar has really helped me obtain clean mycelium, so I know what I'm putting in my jars rather than hoping what's in the syringe is good

Gotta diy man. I'd start with jars, not presterilized bags. I actually started the same way you did and it never worked for me (plus I got kicked out of the house when they found out, stupid teen lol).
pf tek or wait until you move out of your parent's house lol
rye sux also imo (used it exclusively for years). It's dirty as fuck and easily contams.....

I need some info on making a sterile spore syringe. Can I just scrap the spores in a shot glass and use distilled water squirt it in the shot glass an suck it up in the syringe? I don't have a PC can I just boil it in water or steam sterilize it?

Spore syringes are never sterile you can aspirate the syringe with boilimg water a few times to kill off any bacteria inside of it and just do the shot glass but you only need to use like a tiny corner of the spores like the size of a pea

No such thing as a sterile spore syringe. Spores are inherently not sterile. Boil the water, it's what I do

Ok cool do I really need to put lube in the water I plan to use it a day or 2 after I make it? So I just mix the spores in distiller water suck it in the syringe and boil it or do I boil it before hand so i don't cook the spores? I just watched that video after I posted that but I am still a little unsure since I have no PC

The lube isnt necessary just helpful. Mine are done sans lube and I have good success. I tend to make 6-8 syringes per big print.
. Boiling store bought Distilled water should get it sterile *enough*. Willy Myco has a method of placing a bowl/jar in a saucepan with water in it, and letting the steam collect in the bowl. I wouldnt do this considering the bowl would have to be pristine. My personal method to get water is to just pressure cook glass jars with silicone ported lids.
If you wanna get into mycology seriously , get your mitts on a pressure cooker. Ask your family if they have one, say you wanna make a hearty stew
If you can, get into agar, so you can directly apply spores with an inoculation loop to the agar(I make ghetto ones with paperclips that get flame sterilised), this is much more efficient in terms of germination.
