Hey Ham...RR claims that the melting is due to the heat from the burner flame traveling up the sides of the PC..Have you ever had melting due to this? I'm thinking I may need to run a smaller flame on the burner when cramming...Does this make sense?

Hey Crispy! I have NOT had a bag melt to the sides due to heat from a large flame running up the sides of the PC, but I've only used a gas stove incapable of generating a flame larger than the pot. That makes sense though. The only time I have had bags melt is when the PCs were run out of water. I think you're right about running a smaller flame. Couldn't hurt. The few extra minutes spent getting your vessel to temp over ruining all the hard work put into making the bags, and getting them loaded sounds like a sensible trade-off/sacrifice to me.

Anyone ever grow gold oysters (or any oysters for that matter) on cedar mulch or a combination including cedar mulch?
I've got a ton of it, and a couple jars of GO almost ready to shake, and a couple plates to make more jars, but I read that cedar has some anti fungal properties. I just have no idea if the mulch would as well, and if so, if I should leech it a few times before spawning to it.
Also, if I mixed it with verm and cardboard/newspaper, would I have to sterilize/pasteurize it or would the bucket tek suffice?
Edibles have been giving me nothing but trouble since I started them. Probably shouldn't have started with blue and King oysters in this crazy ass temps. They've been saved for the fall.
I've been tempted to give them straight coir and see what happens, but I doubt that'll work in my favour.

I think I remember reading you can get away with it as a part of the mix
there's lipa tek (in my sig) but I didn't have the best luck with it. I'd pasteurize proper if it were me.

I thought you might like this, Crispy. I was loading those spent substrate grounds into spawn bags in the amount of 2 gallons, and was able to fit 4 of them big bags into the sterilizer at once by cramming 3 on the bottom, and laying one on it's side on top of the 3 bag tier, and it worked.

First I would like to say, love your signature!! Fucking Dumbledore is the bomb. Second from what I've read about the shotgun fruiting chamber, a hygrometer is unnecessary. Monitoring temperature might be helpful if you live in south like me and your area gets really hot at times. But the holes in the tub and the perlite should keep the humidity where it needs to be

gonna try using a nice shallow glass cosmetics container with a lid sitting on top of it as a petri. The lid has a little more wiggle room on the sides than the retail plastic petri's but we'll see
Been trying to find a place to buy shallow glass like that online but coming up empty. any thoughts on keywords? I've tried makeup, cosmetics, what else comes in shallow glass jars..

I'm kinda thinking ambient light is all that's needed for brf cakes in a sgfc, but I could be wrong, Hopefully someone with more experience can answer this question??

Doubt it. "Hi, I am using your product illegally to germinate mushroom spores. Please help me break the law!" Syringes are for microscopy only. You'd be better off saying it broke in the mail.

Of course they know, but I doubt many vendors will be likely to admit it, especially through email or something. They wouldn't want to risk being shut down. Just my $.02.

So I'm having some trouble germinating APE on agar. Over the past 6 weeks I've failed to get any growth on MEA, PDA, or Grain Soak Agar. My temps are around 74 ambient light 12/12 and still haven't had any luck. I got the syringe from a sponsor so I have no idea the age but I'm thinking either force hydrating or putting them straight to grain. Anyone have some suggestions or tips I would greatly appreciate it

Don't see the need for forced hydration. Dropping a CC or 2 in between a few grain jars sounds like a good idea. That way if you get some clean myce you can move a colonized grain kernel onto agar, and go from there.
