Yes I'd rather have 4 than 1. I normally make about 4-8 masters per plate. But I like multiple wedges per jar so it depends.

Who uses half gallons? How much would you want to G2G if you want 2 week colonization from good and healthy spawn?

Yeah I was thinking 1 master to 3 half gallons would probably do the job. Then 3 half gallons to a mono. That's about where I wanted to be

Half gallon jars are hard to shake...I don't use mine. You get less in the PC too.

I bought 2 cases to try out. Logistically you are right, doesn't make much sense. When I can fit 9-10 qts I can only fit 4 half gal. But organizationally I'd rather 12 half gallons than almost 30 qts. But it's kind of irrelevant because I'll be doing 30 qts next haha.
Really wish I had a flowhood. Need. Bags. Now.

I think you'd have to cut it up, like the tic tac toe drop. Honestly, that's how I intend on nocking up some jars later today.

im having issues with contams on the tops of 2 of my master jars.
one p tamp. and one gtl. its clearly from my technique not the inoculate. (the contam is nowhere near the wedge, on the top of the grains and only appearing after inoculation)
the variable thats changed is petris/minirounds.

so i can

I'd been trying freezing and thawing colonized petris in 4 oz jars. Sometimes on the thaw the consistency changed enough that you can shake the agar apart into smaller chunks which then recolonize. The chunks sit in there loose, able to be "poured" sans scalpel.
Might be a little pointless when you can just scalpel it up but eh

I've been thinking about making a 'still air tent' similar to franks so's I can knock lots of bags without a flowhood.
Has anybody else ever tried such a thing?
