Hey that reishi is pretty whispy on the grain is that normal? It looks pretty cool on agar almost like a feather

Yeah, Reishi goes through a whispy phase. After that it turns in to a solid white brick that's impossible to remove from the jar lol.

I love how it grows on agar:

I haven't grown out reishi in a while, but I'm considering busting out my slant. It's starting to cool off, and I'm sort of wondering if I should just wait until next summer, but I'm thinking I could sell reishi mushrooms for quite a bit at the farmers market since all the stuff in health food stores is just LC grown mycelium.

I'd FIRST like to talk about my grain jars. I recently put 7 wedges into some grains and the growth is WAY slower than what I am used to seeing. Temp. is low(ish) 67 degrees F and the agar wedge seems to be the only thing that is being inoculated at this time... BAH day 4 and still the same(ish) thing...
Jesus...It's like they're not getting anywhere... ------
Part 2 _______
This Kratom bullshittery.... *sigh... I've been seeing this coming for a long time... I mean, come on... Look at what it does... look at what it is... This is a god damn opiate. (Yes, there is differences... anyone can sit here and argue about the types or receptors involved and BLAH BLAH BLAH...) BUT! You can misuse the fuck out of this.. what the fuck did you think would happen America? You ate this shit up like it was your junior high prom night girlfriend...
I feel like this is a pub post. But I think this is the better place for it.
Anyway...
Let me know about my grain jars...

I don't think anyone on this thread gives a damn about kratom....has nothing to do with mushrooms. My point is that I wouldn't open a kratom discussion on this thread because it doesn't belong here.
My grain jars grew slow initially one inoculated with agar, and I've read that it takes a few days for the mycelium to get used to the new food source. I dropped the wedges in and after a few days I shook the hell out of it, and they colonized completely within a week.

I really hope someone in the audience brings up kratom at the next debate, which is supposed to be town hall style. That, along with ending the war on drugs and removing pot and mushrooms from schedule 1, is something I'd like to hear both candidates respond to.
Anyway that looks like a badass oyster kit a few posts up. Much nicer than the commercial oyster kits here in the US. I'm thinking really hard about making kits for other types of mushrooms, like elm oyster, reishi, and pioppino and selling them at the farmers market. I have a few sawdust/grain bags going and I'm pretty stoked to see how they turn out. Also relevant, I now have a fully colonized jar of P. Subaeruginosa that I'm going to expand to a sawdust bag. Gonna spawn that sawdust bag to woodchips and keep expanding it all winter so I can build a big bed next spring.

Haha ya 5 days for spores is nothing it takes up to 5 atleast just to see a tiny bit of growth on agar for you to see growth in jars is atleast 2 weeks ... as for waiting for pe to pin you have a better chance of finding true love haha jk pe takes quite awhile
