Spawning with contaminated spawn is only giving your contaminant more room to grow. Never a good idea.

For contaminated grain, just fruit the jar. Case a little on top and pop it in SGFC and go to town. Feels like a waste of grain, I know, but it's really disappointing when your sub trichs out before the first flush.

I was just saying for the grains he had colonizing, if they are bacterial also.
But I honestly don't think that's a good idea either. Anything that stalls either has a problem with conditions (unlikely) or its bacterial. At most, I would cut off the Uncolonized portion and fruit it alone so you're not producing large amounts of bulk sub that could potentially fail before the first flush.

The worst is when you got clean spawn and you overheat your sub then use it. 3-5 days later it turns all green on you.

Cool. I birthed, dunked and rolled some more jars. I have 2 that seem to be still going and almost 100%. One of the cakes smelled like apples. I researched this and read it was probably contaminated. I tossed it.

So I soaked grains for about 18 hours, made the jars two nights ago. Is it too late to PC them today? I also have agar that'll be here in a day or so. Can I freeze these jars or something until I'm ready to inoculate with agar?
May not seem like much to some. But I try not to be wasteful or spend more than absolutely necessary on this somewhat taboo hobby. I drunkenly made the mistake to dump the rest of the birdseed I had in a pot to soak so I gotta roll with it

Does crushed oyster shell need to be pasteurized for CVG casings? I'm seeing trich pop up in the casing layer (never guaranteed always could be spawn) in which I used leftover CVG, phed it and added oyster shell. I'll stop using it for a few tubs to see if it changes but in curious.

I wouldn't add oyster shell to cvg, I would just use the cvg
