I pasteurize my straw then dump the grain on top and put hand full in the bag. I use really small bags but I just got a vac sealer so I'm gunna start making my own bags
You can also layer I did it last time and it looks super cool.
Straw grain straw grain straw etc.

I figured that but i mean getting it mixed up evenly and in there do they open air like a tub ? I would think straw or wood would mold? .... the smaller bags i can see but those like 6 foot bags they got seems like would be a bitch to evenly mix they must layer those huh?? So id assume its safe to open air spawn even wuth straw?

Yes, layered. Pasteurized wheat straw is safe to open air spawn to, as well.

Do they have to be spawned in bags hanging or can you do a tub? Got some edibles on the way and I'm soaking up info like a sponge.

I've done blue oysters in monotubs.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that oyster mushrooms are far less co2 tolerant than cubensis.

Is there any thing one can substitute for perlite in their SGFC. Like could I put 4-6 inches of COIR in there and get similar effects?

i think I'm gonna blend my coir after I break down the brick. Cause breaking down the brick is fine but breaking it down further after that has given me temporary carpel tunnel after 3 bricks that shit sucks. Any thoughts on the blender cause I've got quite a few bricks to go now...

Moab...Try to get 3015 Oyster if you can...Hands down the easiest to work with.
I'm cloning a 3015 culture in the morning, and if you need a copy let me know. It will be a week or more to clean it up.

I posted in the contamination forum but it's a bit dead compared to here hope you don't mind
So I made a batch of jars using a blenderless LI from one of my agar plates that had amazing growth.
I was going to do a slurry tek today and colonize a bunch of jars from the master jar that received the agar pieces after the water ran out. So far it has been growing incredibly. Unfortunately, while inspecting two of the jars from that batch, I saw that they had obvious trich. So far the other jars are fine.
This is what the trich jars look like at places

Thing is, for my master jar that I wanted to use to colonize others, I found these specks of bluish green. I used a deep blue agar for this last one and it did turn greenish after the mycellium started spreading. So I can't really tell if it's good or not.
This is a pic that I am 98% is just a piece of agar.

And this is the one that makes me feel sketchy

Extreme close up

What do you guys think?

I inoculated some jars a week ago that I was confident I didn't use Good sterile Tek. I was correct. A lot show green mold. Can I PC these again and reuse instead of wasting the oats? They're just barely showing green mold. Would love to reuse them and recook them in PC and re inoculate if ok?
