I'm not familiar with those teks, but I remember reading you don't want corn in your wbs, mud doesn't sound good at all. Mixing teks, substituting ingredients usually isn't a good idea unless your experienced.. just my thoughts, but I'm also a noob. Definitely mudd sucks.

Considering that the tek is lauded as being anything goes in and tends to work I hoped I would be fine. Not the case so much, and yeah it's confusing cause I had just woken up.

Will it work, or am I fucked and should redo it?
Did you put your substrate directly into your PC? Without a jar or bag? How did it get burned to the bottom?
P.S. There are other problems with your tek too, but... you'll hear about it soon enough.

Mr. Mouse I haven't pressure cooked the jars yet.
I made the substrate recipe according to this coir one:
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21168958
The main differences were:
1- WBS instead of oats and wheat 2- No wheat bran, so I replaced it with whole wheat flour and cut the amount in half since I didn't know what it would do to it. 3- I made a double recipe.
I used the pressure cooker to boil all of the things together before adding them to the verm and coir in a tub. Unfortunately, the coir didn't expand enough even though I weighed out the proper amount. Could be because the tub I used had a lot of area, so the coir didn't drown in water.

Im really confused how you managed to burn the bottom by simmering grains. Doesnt sound like you have followed the basic teks. Reread the elementary coir tek, grain prep, and the bottle tek and actually follow them. If this is your first time, i would highly suggest you do not improvise. Mud means too much water. Use the hands god gave you to finish breaking up the coir. Cracked corn should never be used if you have wbs without it.

Check my sig,. There's a link in there for Foomans WBS prep. I find it better then simmering/boiling those shit little grains. Just load your jars a little wet and the PC will take care of the rest. GL

It was supposed to be a light boil not a simmer for this one, I definitely had the temp on too high because it was taking forever to reach a boil.
But please realize, this is not for regular grain jar prep. My issues are with the bottle tek.

Bran and flour have very different textures/consistencies. I could imagine the flour turning to paste and burning pretty easy.

I just PCed my first batch of Ziploc Twist n Locs.
Are the Ziploc bottles supposed to come out soft and maleable? It's nothing extreme, but it seems to have definitely gone softed. I PCed for 2 hours at 15psi and let the pressure release naturally. I think that they will regain shape after cooling down. I put 8 in a Presto 23qt, 3 sideways on the top. All of them feel squishier.

Yeah. I keep foil on mine, and in the PC until cooled. Then tighten lids with foil on, then remove foil. They can suck in sir otherwise. But yeah, soft.

You leave them to cool in the closed pc? Or once it's open?
I took them out and shook them immediately.
They are a bit soft and maybe some on the side seem a tiny bit warped.
I really wish we had proper widemouth quart mason jars, these ziploc things are more expensive, warpable, and less of them fit in the PC
