How much misting in ml? A few times I just put 500ml of water in, and when I went in to drain it, it had all been absorbed.

I either dunk or mist heavily between flushes, depending on how heavy the flush was.
You want to mist heavily, get water pooling on the surface and it will get absorbed very quickly, so you have to keep misting heavily for 2 or 3 days, you'll notice when the sub gets all the water it needed.

I love how Bod, using his unmodified tubs, floats his shrooms to the tops to harvest, while simultaneously hydrating the substrate. This is why I want to get to the point of using unmodified tubs. I got me a good one right now actually, just starting to pin. I'm using one of these for a mini mono, mine has a blue lid but works just fine. There are "air slots" along those latches as well as area for air to get out around the handle. I did a very very thin vermiculite casing, and honestly I probably didn't need it. Doesn't need much misting, maybe 1 time a day, and doesn't dry to quickly.

So I'm making some pasty plates and I am making extra agar for my 1st try at pouring some petri's, got 20 of the 100mm. I got a media bottle with just under 200ml of agar in it, sterilized and been stored. Is there any reason I should NOT put this new agar into the media bottle with the old, and sterilize it so I have enough in the media bottle for 20 plates? 2nd question, how many ML do you guys think each 10 stack of 100mm plates will take?

Those are some thirsty subs!
@TheMadHatter420
My guess would be like 250 ml to be on the safe side, since Bod's agar tek says a hair over 400 ml for 20 plates, but I couldn't get that much probably because I didn't pour fast enough. In my experience, when you get near the end, if you're not pouring fast enough, the agar will cool in the bottle and gel up and get some clumps before you finish pouring it all. It may have gotten too cool at the very beginning. I was using PDA.

Yea, the cooling while pouring problem, this is the part that worries me the most. Good thing I am considering these plates as practices.

I remember not being able to practice lifting the lids without agar since it would compromise the sterility, so I knew the first time I poured, that would also be the first time I tried to lift 9 plates plus the lid off off the bottom one in a stack of ten. But it was easier than I expected. If the last petris don't get enough agar or clump up then you can just toss them. I encountered one petri that was alread cracked on my last round. On my last round I only ended up with around 30 plates with around 900 ml of agar, which means that it took me like 300 ml per ten plates! But I had to toss a few, and I wasn't sure whether I was adding more agar to the plates than necessary.

Well, I need to do something. I don't like cleaning 30 pasty plates at a time any more. Specially when it is 2 times a week

But the tiger drop is the easiest inoculation around!
I just noticed several days ago a few unused pasties I had sitting around must not have had contaminant spores completely destroyed in my PC run because they were showing contams. It might have been because I didn't vent my PC properly. One of them had an immense amount of trich growing. I was shocked when I saw it. The plus side is that I didn't have to bother cleaning it.

I have only ever gotten satellite mold, gets in during transfer. I have pasty plates ready to go usually, have yet to see any of them grow anything that I didn't put in there.

mold that is close to the edge of the dish, and not from the culture. Looks like a satellite orbiting a planet, well kind of. It was knocked in, or drifted in during the transfer. I am fairly sure mine are from fighting a wedge stuck on the knife. Doesn't happen a lot, but I do still have this issue from time to time.

Can it be any kind of mold?
I checked the contam forum and excellent sticky about contams, and it said that trich is easily killed during pasteurization, so it would be odd that I would have it in a sterilized pasty that hadn't been opened, even if it wasn't PC'd properly. Maybe it snuck under the lid or it was a different kind of mold. I could tell some of my petris got penicillium after looking at the sticky, but that looked different than what was in my pasty. Two of them had just started to show some white spots when I noticed the contams. I wish I had kept those to see how they developed over time.

Not sure how you got yours. Mine all ways show up as "satellites" around the very edge, indicating that the mold spores got knocked in during the transfer or drifted in on air currents. I RARELY get mold unless it's 1st plates with fresh spores. Then I just toss anything with mold on it. Bacteria is my fight, shit can hide in the mycelium, BUT dying my agar greenish seems to be helping it show up better when looking through the culture.

Satellite refers to any growth on agar other than the inoculation area
Satellites are always suspect
