Will one of you fine people post me a link on some LC recipes, I searched it and everything that came up was old as dirt. Also how to prepare the lids on the jars, I saw someone posted how they prepped the lids before but for the life of me can't find it. Fixing to start my first Liquid cultures any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you read up on the pros and cons of LC vs LI, and make sure that LC actually appropriate for your needs
LCs only main benefit over liquid inoculant is the huge potential for culture expansion. But you don't need expansion if all you want is a good liquid inoculant. It's a matter of weighing the additional risks against any potential gains
LI has far less risk of culturing contams

LC especially requires some flawless techniques. 1 CFU of bacteria could seriously fuck up the whole thing. If you're confident in your tek, it's very simple. LI on the other hand is used to inoc within the session, 1 CFU of introduced bacteria goes in 1 jar only. Very nice

Try LI with barely any water. Looking at a jar, I couldn't have used even 50ml, and I inoculated nine jars of oats. Two are bunk. Seven look pretty great minus my grain prep.

Got it. Going to remove the bottom strip of micropore tape since the pins are coming in good. Thanks.

So I got a strange and funny little tidbit that could turn into something cool. like 7-10 days ago I emptied some QT jars of bacterial oats into a bucket. They ended up setting in the basement until now. Well they some how went on to colonize more, into one solid ~2.5gal block. I dug a hole in the garden and dumped it in. Smelled strong of mushrooms with a bit of the bacteria smell. I crumbled it apart in the hole and covered with soil. This is in the end of my vegetable garden where I dumped 2 pickup truck loads of horse and cow manure a year ago. We will see if anything comes of it. There was NO visible mold, yet the bucket sat open in my basement the whole time. I had honestly believed they were to bacterial to do anything with, then I saw they were still chugging along. Said to myself well fuck I just might get me some outdoor cubes, only time will tell.

I got my first pins lads!
Albeit in a PF jar that isnt fully colonised, so its probably a sign of stress. But I'm one step closer! I can clone the 2 to 2 plates when I make a batch of agar. Or just eat them since I dont have enough materials for agar right now.

Quick question fellas, I am fixing to inoculate some grain jars with wedges of agar. Is it best to use the dishes with the rhizo* or the fluffy kind, totome* sorry can't remember the names of it.
And as for my earlier post about LC recipes I am basically just wanting to use it for inoculation. I figured liquid would be quicker to colonize my grain than using wedges of agar.

Rhizo is generally considered more aggressive so use that.

Ahhh, I've got nothing but my first cakes on my mind! Today is only the fifth day since I inoculated them, so no growth yet. Happy that I don't see anything else in any of them either! I literally had a dream about them last night. I never had this sort of anticipation with oysters lol. It would probably move faster if I could get the temp up closer to 80, but that would cost more, and the wife would kill me. 69/70 it is...

69/70 is better than 80. They're going to build internal heat as they grow, too hot will lead to a bacterial breeding ground. Especially if you're using a spore solution.

Yup, MS syringe. I can't wait to see some white though! I'm like a kid on Christmas. Only problem is my job just rescheduled my vacation to June 4th. So now I'm going to have to stall the jars I guess, if I can't fruit in time. I can throw them in the fridge once they are colonized right?

Rhizo growth means very little in relation to fruiting ability...Somebody else with more experience can explain it better, but don't be afraid of tomentose growth.

We'll some consolidation time is fine but the fridge will keep them in stasis for a while until they fruit. I got some plates going in if I cant get more agar petris in time.

Rhizo is better to see the actual growth, easier to see if it has bacteria and happens with lower nutes its supposed starve the myc so it grows faster looking for nutrients but ya tomentose is just as good you can take a nice rhizo growing plate and up the nutes and after a few transfers you will see it gping back to tomentose.... tomatoe tomato
