1- BEst place to find shredded straw in most cities, I don't have a lawnmower or fancy space like that.
2- Do those soup containers work or is it ill advised? I need to get a lot of the Twist and Locks and they seem overpriced a bit. What are some good alternatives?
3- What yield do most of you guys get per flush per bottle? Considering I can fit 9-10 in my PC, if it's close to 20gs a flush that is quite significant.
4- I'm assuming that inoculation to fruiting is quicker than via monotubs since once the grain jars are colonized they are good to go as opposed to needing to colonize a monotub. Am I right?
1. I don't know, they don't sell shredded straw here, but if you plan on doing just a few bottles cutting straw with scissors is not such a lot of work.
2. Fuck if they sold those awesome twist and lock containers in my country I would've bought a fleet already. You could also use wide mouth mason jars and buy plastic lids for them for ease of use.
3. The tend to yield pretty well from ms
But ms is a crapshoot, you can luck out or not. I also had shitty yields with straw bottles.
4. IME It's a little faster going the grain>bulk route, taking that you use liquid inoculants to grains. Besides, straw bottles need a long consolidation time after hitting 100℅ colonization.

No, I took them out of the bottles to harvest and take pics.
Yeah, Pasty's invitro straw, nothing invitro about it though, but you can fruit them invitro, just add less substrate.

big reason i went to pouring dishes..even though i suck at it.
500 60mm(same size as a miniround)petris was insanely cheap compared to 3.99 a pop(at the cheapest) for 8 plates

I've started hosing down my subs with h2o2 water
the mushrooms seem to like it
everyone around here seems to think it's the devil
regular water breeds bacteria and misting must be controlled, with h2o2 I have literally been soaking down my subs

Peroxide degrades into water way quick. I'd wager within 5 minutes when exposed to light and spread out over a large surface. Why wouldn't bacteria breed on that? Water's water.
Mycelium fizzles when it's given peroxide at 3%. It turns the surface rubbery looking, destroying pinning sites and causing the myc to have to needlessly recover, opening it up to contams. And if it's diluted to the point where it isn't doing that, it's just much less of it to turn into water, much quicker.
You can grow just fine without peroxide, and if you find you need it just to get a good grow, peroxide isn't the solution to your issues, and to top it off IME, it just hurts more than it helps. I've misted many a sub with peroxide, I found it to be useless.

I'm using 0.3% to minimize damage. I assumed it would still be killing bacteria present on the fruits and within the sub surface at that concentration? I've always found that overmisting causes a dirty sock smell in my tubs but haven't noticed this effect with my limited tests using the diluted h2o2. I know it turns into water in a few seconds but during those few second it's also killing bacteria.
I just started trying this out a couple days ago, so I'm not claiming anything conclusive, but I do feel compelled to continue my experimenting. I'm getting consistently decent flushes, but I think I can improve it if I find an easy way to provide abundant water.
What I have learned is that peroxide isn't all that harmful to the fruits. I poured a half shot of 30% peroxide onto a fruit yesterday and it kept growing and it's harvested and drying now. I thought for sure it was going to fuck it up bad because when I poured the peroxide on it frothed up into a foam and started puffing out smoke lol

So do you guys think I could get a spore print to California by simply putting it in what looks like a letter? I know this is kind of a touchy subject. I just wish to help someone out. Not sure if I could just drop the "letter" in a drop box with a destination and no return address.

I'm going to assume my grain prep is not as good as it should be. As all my plates recently have been free of contams.
So that would leave me to believe my prep sucks. Tomorrow I'm going to hydrate via boiling then steam dry on my screen more then usual I think I've been too lazy. Hopefully this will solve my bacterial issue I have been having lately with my grain.
for the help
