Hi everyone
First time doing shoeboxes.
I harvested the second flush, I guess it's a flush, a harvestable amount of fruit. The veils were breaking so I harvested.
Last flush was 10 days ago. I watered based on instructions somewhere in the shoebox thread from Mushboy. Bottom-watered with 3/4 cup water. Left for 24 h and poured off the excess water.
After I harvested today the second flush I was taking off a couple of side pins that formed and felt the bottom of the substrate with my fingers. It seems fairly saturated. More than field capacity.
Did I over do it with 24 h? My instinct is not to bottom water after this flush again. Should I leave it alone, see if a 3rd flush comes and water after that?
This is how it looked today before harvesting:

Dunking my subs always made them too wet, I usually just soak it with a spray bottle a couple days after harvest now.
That’s a solid second flush, if the first flush was bigger then your tub is probably close to spent. My shoeboxes with a quart of spawn usually put out like 40-50g before they’re finished.

When I saw the first post with the sprouted grains i thought it might be a troll. Bit torn here. One hand it's mush cult thread so incorrect info should be corrected so that noobs like me don't think this is the way. On the other hand maybe leaving the dude alone and exercising some compassion for someone with brain damage would also be cool.
I have brain damage amoung other disabilities. If I do dumb shit, I want to be told. If I continue arguing for it, I should be made fun of and called out. I'm wrong often, sometimes directly from my bad comprehension qnd still should get that response. Crossing the line is when someone refuses to let it go and move on afterward or teases teases the disability in a malicious way.
That's what being treated equal like q normal person is. Im not ripping him to shreds, I made one light jab only after he insisted on the position when its very clear whats going on. He could laugh with us at this moment and accept the assistance anybody here would glad give.

Ah finally, someone. Thank you Aka. I had one member answer but just regarding turning the sub over to the other side. I didn't dunk it fully, just bottom watered with 170 ml of water. But I get how it would have a similar effect as dunking at making it too wet.
When you say soak with a spray bottle, do you spray heavily until it pools on the surface? So, what I mean is you don't just do it lightly to have small beads, but leave it after harvest for a few days and then spray it thoroughly to give it some proper hydration. Am I understanding it correctly?
The first flush was almost double in size. 1st 230 g wet 20g dry 2nd 130 g wet 10g dry
So this box is at 30g at the moment. I just sprayed telhe surface lightly after harvesting. Didn't want to bottom water since as I said it feels too wet to the touch at the bottom of the sub. Didn't make sense to do so. Now I'll see if it pushes out a 3rd flush.
Thank you for giving me some reference values from your experience. I was wondering how much to expect. This is the first time I'm doing this. Have 2 boxes, each got 1 myco quart of grain (I'm assuming you guys refer to a quart bottle of grain spawn that is 2/3 to 3/4 filled with grain a s mycoquart). I thought I should ask about this to gauge how well this grow did, but this now gives me some confidence it was good for a first time. Thank you.

I get it. My comment was not directed at you but was more general, nor did I mean to make a statement about your character. It was a light jab, and the dude is amazing, I see it too. He pissed off so many of you it's been now couple of days, we're still posting about it. The light pile on was weird to me. He got his from one two members that should have been enough. Best to just ignore, let the dude be. As long as his misinformation has been corrected.
I love the online forum structure. The inherent anonymity give people the opportunity to act with less of a mask on and feels like an acid test of how frustrated we are. People are more keen to post when there is chance to set someone on a spike and engage in self-righteous chastising. Even though I have to say, shroomery members have been mostly very civil, as far as online comment sections go.
One member quoted some other dude mentioning idiot compassion and how the sprouted grains poster wouldn't be getting what he needs if we had compassion for his stupidity. As if any of us knows what any other person really needs unless they themselves say what they need.
And every time is se a Jordan Peterson video I wann go have a shit. Regardless of how intelligent he may be, he is often ladend with anger and comes across as oppressive.
"Condemnation does not liberate. It oppresses. And I am the oppressor of the person I condemn – not his friend and fellow sufferer. I do not in the least mean to say that we must never pass judgment when we desire to help and improve. But, if we wish to help a human being, we must be able to accept him as he is."
I can't help myself. I'm quoting Carl Jung, fuck it.

Well shit I didn't know that went for days, I'd have let it die and I am in the wrong for beating a dead horse like that.
In general ime, it's hard and few people that speak up hit the middle ground between coddling or white knighting, and being a prick. Shroomery largely nails it and keeps the focus on the work, sometimes it picks up a little dog pile when everyone wants to add in.
Peterson lol. He was highly regarded in his field. But ever since he misunderstood, or lied, about that Canadian law, he liked fame and sold his soul to be a talking head. He may be smart, but his takes are pseudo intellectual opinions/propaganda to support a political side, more than researched well thought out conclusions. Seems to have some bigoted tendencies to, he's only a step or 2 away from 13/30 and the jews run the world.

Peterson's older lectures were good shit. You know, when he was still in a classroom or targeting actual students and stuff. They are on his channel, aaaaaalll the way on the bottom. Just ignore everything after he became a diva, easy peasy. I think he even very conveniently grouped all that bad shit in the podcast playlist or something. That shit is fucking boring anyway lol. It's like listening to an MLM pitch.
Who you should be listening to though is my man Robert Sapolsky's lectures. That's the good stuff, and it didn't devolve into some kind of ... whatever Peterson's been doing.

Fuck that guy. He deserved it. As I understand it, compassion doesn't work so well with narcissists.
Not sure what other shit he's dealing with but based on his superiority complex, inability to take criticism and fervent certitude that he is right, he's definitely a narcissist.
Mental health is not an excuse for poor behaviour and no one has to put up with his shit just cause of it. Everyone has the right to choose how much they accept.
And let's be honest, people were pretty tame.

dude yeah i’ve never been a staunch follower of him but peterson had such a fall from grace. i remember seeing some of his lectures from years ago & there was some good stuff in there, & i think he genuinely did help a lot of people. but man, he’s picked some weird hills to die on & has definitely become a cult of personality & outrage it’s kinda just embarrassing lol. he also seems to misconstrue a lot of jungian psychology/philosophy & it’s kinda ironic given jung’s resistance to dogma & stating things as absolute facts. he just took it all & ran the wrong way with it

It was prescription anti anxiety meds, not opiates, they were benzodiazepines. As far as I'm concerned the man is a hero and a devastatingly articulate intellectual.

The man has been under fire from every imaginable source of scrutiny and wokeness while simultaneously watching his wife nearly die, multiple times; his daughter survive illnesses, the collapse of his career at U of T, death threats, etc, while maintaining sharp intellectual sobriety.
He was plagued with addiction as a result of all that anxiety with the added compounded complexity of his own autoimmune disorders.
The man is a Canadian hero, in my books. He's held up pretty well considering the circumstances.
His bent toward Judeo-Christian theology would be easily forgiven, even respected if he'd only chose any other religious system to speak on.
His maps of meaning lectures at U of T are available for free on YT and are nearly as good as the symphony of word and thought that is the psychological significance of the biblical stories, also free on YT.
Both are masterpieces.
