How the fuck are you making tubs air tight? And carbon dioxide is odorless.

how air-tight was it?  I had a hole free bag with a strong knot tied in it so 100% airtight.
I also didn't leave much airspace within the bag, so it probably ran out of air to breath pretty fast especially since it had 10 qt of spawn inside....  10 qt wasted I guess.

Every little hole taped up and lid fitted with those self adhesive foam strips. The tubs i use have lids with a nice little ridge on the outer edge. The smaller size tapes fit perfect right around. Then there's also the side handles that firmly squeeze the lid down.

I can colonize my tubs "air tight" since I have similar lids. But cubensis is aerobic so there's no good reason to make it anaerobic on purpose. Colonization is in slightly higher co2 levels not lethal ones. I'd rather colonize in fruiting conditions than choke conditions

Nice and  plump.
I think some of my bacteria issues. (previous issues) were due to not allowing my wbs to dry properly.
I don't simmer my wbs after the soak, I bring it to a slight boil and then pour it in  strainers and spread. It out on a baking sheet to help disperse the hot seed.
What's your thoughts on not keeping the seed simmering?

The purpose of making my tubs "airtight" isn't the same as his though. I just wanted to make sure fungus gnats can't get inside  It was a major problem i had, but they're all gone now :flyzapper:

I colonize my 14 liter trays with the lid locked down for about 8 days no FAE no GE. They do really well. I'll be posting pics today of those trays in my journal for LAGM.

Okay, that makes sense, heh. I was curious why the hell you'd do that.

I don't and my tubs do really well.
 that's why correlation isn't really evidence

Cubes are aerobic I wouldn't think that your choke has anything good to do with performance it just happens to still perform well despite

Would be interesting to see how both your methods perform with PE, considering it needs an extra while to consolidate it's sub/spawn before fruiting to prevent blobs?

That's one way people try to stop blobs. I would just get a culture that didn't blob with my grow methods

Have Ovoid and psylocibe cyans. Have a nice spot outside I'd love to drop some spawn...

How does one start these outdoor shrooms? Put spores on agar, inoculate oats, lay oats out, cover with straw/coir??

No grain spawn use wood chips as spawn. Animals would just eat all your oat spawn

Could g2g oats to wood chip jars

Like, go grab some of my oak/pecan/apple/cherry etc grill smoking chips? Any preference in wood variety or they don't care?

Apparently oak and maple. I've heard alder is good too. Good luck man, you've worked pretty fucking hard at this. I wish you much success, and hopefully by the end of this you might even find a way to enjoy tripping on the fruits of your labor

I think I'm about to get it. I have quite a few WBS jars consolidating, but really don't care too much about those. Got a 50lb bag of oats, and 9 jars of that colonizing. Couldn't be happier. Looks so clean and unquestionable
