Hi, Shroomies. First timer here.
I have in my possession 10 spore prints from ovoid
1 print of Cyan and cyan myc on wood chips, been bouncing it from jar to bag for 3 years. Finally got a large bed with 40yards of fir/alder playground chip finished. My question is first about my location, comox valley which is mid Vancouver Island. Is comox climate able to support cyans and Ovoids? I had a small rubbermaid bin of cyan spawn start the smallest pins, they aborted then I buried the chips in my chip bed last fall. I want to make a water/spore mixture from my ovoid prints and pour it in the opposite side of the bed about 20ft away and hope for a patch on each side.
Is there any chance of this working?
Ive also got a few bins attempting a colonization with layers of fermented chips from my bed and soil/myc covered cardboard(cyans)

Thanks

Thank god, I was worried sick. You really get away with only 12 hr verm bake?

Next youโ€™ll be telling me thereโ€™s some magic piece of cookware that utilizes heat and pressure to kill all living organisms. Keep dreaming buddy

Haha, heat and pressure to kill things, that would be black majic and voodoo all wrapped up in one. Such devices defy the laws of physics as known to us vermiculite bakers.

It is pretty late in the year to be starting a bed. Are ovoids native to your area? It is recommended to go spore to agar to grain to sterilized chip to bulk chips. Some people have had luck going LC straight to chips, or even colonized grain to outdoor wood chips. I don't think spore water has a very good chance.

Cyan's are native to the area.

Do you know if Ovoids are? The spores are from a patch that was started by pouring spore water in chips outside, 2 years later it was a nice patch 14oz dried after harvest. That was in Pennsylvania I believe.

I was aware it was late to get any fruits this year but I was under the impression the myc would just grow in the mean time. Is that not correct?

I don't think they are native, but I do think they could be established.

Iโ€™ve got kind of a weird question with lc for you guys that use it a lot.

Iโ€™ve usually made mine pretty low nutrient so it doesnโ€™t get super thick and clog the needles. Recently I made a few with way more lme than normal. For you guys that use heavy nutrients does the lc leave an outline when you test it on a plate??

My recent ones did, with spore syringe this means bacteria but with these lcs the myc looks good so Iโ€™m thinking it may just be the extra nutrients from the evaporated broth that Iโ€™m seeing.

You can see it at the top here

Hey buddy, hope you been well

Thats one of the reasons i always make mine super low nutrients (1.67g LME per liter of broth). Still get tons of myc, its fast, and crystal clear so easy to access

I use the same ratio... I also use 1g p/liter of peptone. my lc is thick and often clogs needles (and filters which rarely leads to contam unfortunately). less lc per jar seems like a wise idea moving forward for me.

I have an extra needle of gt and Iโ€™d like to start a big outdoor patch, Iโ€™ve never done anything like this so advice is appreciated.

Midwest climate, I planned on inoculating 12 lb of rye altogether. Should I still use verm and gypsum and if so how much? Does anybody have a recomended tek for this?

Was also gonna try mixing in horse poo, not pasteurized. But I have access to it and this will actually be on a horse ranch so why not. Planned on covering with mulch and occasionally misting, hoping to have something going by this fall. Will it return in the spring?

Any advice appreciated or special teks appreciated. Didnโ€™t want to make a new thread for this.

Edit: whoops, sorry, didnโ€™t mean to reply to a very old comment

Absolutely, at 400 degrees for 12 hours then I ran it a second time to make sure ๐Ÿ˜

Careful. If youโ€™re not using one of these, your verm could harbor dangerous mold spores.

I usually ball up and put myself into this for a few hours before using my flow hood too.

Those cheap ass white plastic lids from Amazon can fuck off and die in a fire. I swear if a single jar contaminates due to them being an absolute nightmare to work with in the SAB :knowwhatnevermind:
