Very cool. Unfortunately they are trying to make a compound that can be branded, under the presumption that hallucinations are unwanted.

Hi everyone,
First time doing grain. Do I shake this jar? It's been a week since inoculation. It's the same jar on both pix.

I would. It's almost done, so it should recover and finish quickly.

Thank you Vinny. I kept thinking at 30% but it went so quickly on this jar. I prepared 3 completely the same way and dropped 3 wedges into each jar, all of them from one plate and this one is going great, one is going nice but a bit slower and the third one is going nowhere.
I don't get it. Especially the one that's going nowhere.

things I did differently: -I packed the substrate much more firmly than usual -no verm
I'm kind of confused, as I have been getting really generous yields that have been fairly uniformed.
Any idea why I'm only getting a couple fruits at a time in a pretty large tub?

I pack 7qts into my 5.2qt shoe boxes by compressing with body weight, so I would say you can eliminate that as the cause.

Looking at that pic I think we can assume the spawn was probably bacterial. Uneven colonization, random thick patches of myc.

there were no signs of bacteria... I uploaded a photo of the spawn bag a while back. I was under the impression it was bacterial... more experienced growers told me it wasnt. there were signs of temperature fluctuations though
here's the thread regarding the spawn bag

While not all cases exposed grain is a sign of bacteria I'd say the fact that most grains have patchy colonization combined with poor colonization of substrate, thick consolidated patches and poor flushes does point to bacteria.

So what are your grain jar to coir ratios nowadays?
I used to do 5 jars per brick, but the coir always felt like it didn't colonize all the way.
I'm thinking about doing 3-4qt and a half brick per smaller tub, but maybe that's overkill?
