My cousin gave me a monotub, I put some micropore tape on the holes, added my colonized grains and substrate on 2/12. It’s now fully colonized. He told me to buy these patches from north spore and apply them when I’m ready to fruit.
Problem is, I lost the patches, and was under the impression they seemed kinda useless anyways.
Can I fruit with just the micropore tape?
Yeah if you need more free air exchange remove the tape. If you need less, ass tape.
There’s no difference between colonization and fruiting. You shouldn’t need to change anything.

Yes, definitely. You can fruit without it, too. See Pasty's EZ Dialed Monos (2.0).
They were probably filter stickers. Convenient but not at all necessary.

I harvested a tub of 6 month old spawn recently
I've also heard from some TC (don't recall who) that with PE, it's good to let it stay in jar 7 to 10 days longer than you would with other varieties. I haven't tested it in double blind, but makes sense with the slow grow.
this really only makes sense with brf cakes being fruited as cakes. Letting it sit lets it go through the consolidation phase which happens before knots & pins. Since grains(and cakes>bulk) are going to be broken up to colonize the substrate, it's gonna go through consolidation again when it's done colonizing.

Is there a good word for when you finally are able to see the “whys” of things? Like there are parts of this that I know what the steps are, what they accomplish, even why we do them, but I can’t deviate from written instructions yet.
There comes a point in understanding when you’re able to apply the skeleton of a process to something you’ve never done before and it makes sense. Operation without instruction. Is there a word for this? Am I making any sense at all?

Please my lexicon is already fuckin busting with nonsense and made up words I can’t fit anymore in there just because they’re fun to say. By the time I’m 60 it’s not even going to be English anymore.

Still waiting on enlightenment to put its thumb up my ass regarding grain prep. I know what I’m doing and why, but without the guiding hand of success I feel like I don’t understand it yet.

There isn't a word probably because it's a very gradual process. You rarely have an "aha" moment.

Unconscious competence? Intuition? Wisdom?
One model of learning, briefly stated, asserts that unconscious incompetence yields conscious incompetence, which gives rise to conscious competence and ultimately unconscious competence.
