Why does everyone hate on whole brown rice? Is it only because it's expensive?

Quick, simple question. I have been doing the most basic method for years, needle to grain, bulk to substrate in bags (shroomsupply) although I now have a monotub as well. I’ve had many people hate on this over the years, but hey, it works for me and I get more then enough.
I started off with b+ but now work with teachers, sitting on a melmac needle atm, wanna try a few more varieties this year. Thinking blue meanies (pan Cyans) and APEs.
Heard melmac is tough to fruit, is this true, any suggestions? Also, can I use the other varieties with the same method I’ve been doing all these years? Thanks

Melamc isn't any harder than anything else, APE seems to give trouble to more than most. Same method for all but the cyans. You'll at least need a poo sub and true casing layer. cyans in mono's have made leaps recently.

Would it be easier to grow cyans outdoors? I don’t want that shit in my house however I do have access to as much horse manure as a man could ever need…I’m thinking rye berries and cyans, mixed with horse poo, buried under a nice layer of mulch…what time of year would be ideal? (Midwest/Great Lakes climate)

No poop, no fancy set up. Rye and straw, cased Ruth jiffy seed starter and verm. I'm on the north side of the lakes.

Like from Studio Ghibli, Hiyao Miyazaki? Or maybe they just call them that in general.

From one of the Shroomery sponsors "Spore syringes really aren't good for using on agar. Some times they will show bacteria on agar, yet when you put them directly to grain there is no signs of bacteria. On agar, the mushroom mycelium can not compete against the trace amounts of bacteria. But once put directly to grain, the mycelium easily outcompetes the trace amounts of bacteria and grows on the healthy mycelium... we don't recommend using spore syringes on agar, unless you happen to be using gentamicin sulfate antibiotic powder."
I'm confused, everyone here says mss>agar>grain

Well, think about it from their perspective. They sell this shit. Think about it from our perspective. We have nothing to gain.
The truth is, you can run shitty spawn and have good results. It's not uncommon, at all. Contamination on agar doesn't mean you won't get any mushrooms. It just means those spores are dirty, which is to be expected.
As cultivators, we recommend spores to agar because it allows us to isolate good mycelium from bacteria, and then drop bacteria free plates to grain, eliminating contamination. This is proper, and good.
Spores to grain isn't, but from most companys selling mushroom shit it's the most profitable thing you can do. "But taters, listen man, whether you go agar or grain you're still using their product, what do you mean it's the most profitable thing". What I mean is that they sell spores, and the more work required to grow mushrooms = less consumers willing to do that work which = less sales. I'd venture a guess that over 75% of people in this hobby don't even use agar, so if that's a step required for success, less people are going to make the attempt.
-------------------- If you've never grown mushrooms before, here's how you start. First, follow the Updated PF Tek, put 4 holes in jar lids not 1, and use a water tub! The next move is Shoebox Tek. After that you move onto grains, agar, monotubs. Agar is easy, just do it. Other useful links - Picture guide for how things should look and proper surface conditions guide Growing APE or PE? Hello everyone, my first post and I didn't want to start a newbie stupid thread.
I recently started my first grow and I have mixed results so far. I inoculated 3 grow bags from the same vendor with a single golden teacher syringe split 3 ways at the same time, as identically and as sterilely as possible. I stored all three bags together under the same conditions for 3 weeks. One bag is growing into a big thick white brick, the other two are not showing any sign whatsoever of being productive members of society.
Any ideas, or is this just how it grows?
