Hey Rusty <3
I have styropor as a botten layer and works like a charm. You could also just take like a old towl and fold it to use as a bottom layer.
Ofc it would be best if you could put them on a shelve or something. But besids that, styropor or a blaket should suffice.
Mush love for you!
Edit: or just use a empty tub for the bottom tub :P

Yeah Styro sounds like a good idea. I'll see if I can find get some.
I had a rubber mat (gym style mat) but I got rid of it a few months before I started cultivating because I couldn't find a use for it anymore .
I try to keep my tubs full so I'd rather no spare em as insulation.

Rusty, maybe check out the dry core foam/plywood panels intended for laying flooring over damp basement slabs. Pretty cheap and easy option for an insulated platform

Bacterial jar that I'm top fruiting. Didn't compress as hard as I normally do, out of curiosity. Bad idea.
Second jar I compressed the shit out of.

how many of you are doing your flow transfers as close to the filter as possible? like a vacuum cleaner it stands to reason (in my naive thought) that the air current is most effective the closer to the shootoff you get
does anyone consider or have experience with considering this

I always do everything as close to the filter as possible. Never really had a reason not to. You can use a stick of incense to see where in the flow the turbulence starts to take place. Regardless, nothing should ever pass in front of an open, sterile container.

I’ve got high hopes for this mini-mono. FP+ clone, 2 qts WBS to 5 qts straight coir. Been 7 days, sub appears fully colonized below surface, and is looking good so far. Will case in 7-10 more days, or 80% surface colonization. Whichever comes first.

Do these looks like the start of side-pins or blobs? They really aren't increasing in size much at all. I had the first blob appear at the surface, it grew from zero to peanut in 24hrs.
This is the APE tub which I matted the first surface and covered lightly with coir. It very slowly grew through the coir, but its looking more and more lumpy. I'm thinking blobs are going to push up, but maybe mushrooms. At this point (almost 2 mo from start) I'll be happy with enough blobs for a happy new years. My plan is not to deal with what happening on the sides at all unless I have to.
