Iโve read recipes that use 50% soak water only, let alone the dextrose on top of that.
If this is your only swab, Iโd do one transfer to weaker plates just to be sure itโs a contam. If you have others, make some weaker plates and try swabbing those.
I don't mind trying a less nutritious recipe, however, this has worked pretty well so far for 3 other strains and 10's of plates.
The weather was indeed a bit warmer when I was working with them - temps drop a bit during the night, though during the day its fairly spot on. This has not affected transfers or other plates at all.
Cant really see in the photos but theres a fine white fluff that very well may be mycelium. I'll let it keep going and if it looks decent I'll transfer. I'll get some more plates going

Again, yes.
Green mold is mold that is dropping spores. I'd gently put that in a trash bag, put another bag around it, and take it out of your house to the trash can.
If you must grow that out and eat the shrooms, I'd boil them to make tea first, to kill any nasties in there.
Might not be dangerous but I don't like that much errant spores running around my home space and grow space. There are always mold spores in a house, but not that many in a pile.
Thank you, i chucked it out yesterday after the first answer. It had one small fruit, very small like 3 cm long. Same as the others that were struggling for water it opened the cap even though it was tiny. I'm drying it. it seemed fully ok without any signs of rot or spoilage.
I'm bottom watering the last cake and spraying it two times a day. That's what other guys suggested when I asked why are the cakes going the shit. The other one seems ok so far, I'll keep an eye out for mold since the other one was next to it for days now.

That's why I think sending a section of a spore print might be a better idea than a swab.
I had 3 swabs come almost a dollar postage due, and they were't overweight. Was less than an ounce total, but they called it on thickness. Usually works, but not always, even with the "hand stamp please." (Which can also get them too look inside.)
I think you could squish colonized grains in plastic thinner than a swab / swab stem too.
Mail, at least in the US has gotten way more locked down. I used to send and receive crazy things in letter envelopes back in the day (80s and 90s). Joints. Pills. Cassette tapes. 30-page hand written letters. Always with just one first-class stamp. Often without last name and sometimes without zip code.
Mail now doesn't even always get there on time (or at all) with proper postage, perfect address, etc.

Im sorry do you actually pay for the postage due? Not once has my post office required collection. Its kinda wild to me peoples have this much of an issue with swabs, rarely do they come in broken and even if they do it makes no difference to me cause Ima break the swab in the packaging before I open it anyways.

I received an open letter with swabs in tiny pieces spread around the letter and a giant sticker saying "sorry your package was damaged in transit"

Sounds like a print probably wouldnt have survived that experience honestly, not sure it was the swabs fault in your case

Yeah, but they also have landrace sativas and a myriad of cool active mushrooms. We have an untold number of venomous snakes, spiders, lizards, and throw in a series of poisonous plants that give the world's worst contact dermatitis, including one that doesn't react until you step into the sun then your skin literally boils. We also have ticks that can give you lymes disease or make you allergic to the proteins in red meat. All of that is before we even get to American cops.
But you know what? At least none of the three of us live in Australia
Or oh god, could you imagine? Ohio

I use to tape them to pieces of cardboard but then ppl would get hit with extra postage for thickness. But if you fold them up in a piece of normal paper so they stay off the bottom, they stay away from the rollers on the sorting machines like This
Havenโt had any issues since.. at least that ppl have said. And if Iโm sending more than one swab set Iโll use a piece of tape to keep them side by side in the letter so they donโt fall on top of each other making the letter thicker

I send just the cotton from swabs quite a bit.
You just gotta open the foil and use the scalpel to either pick up the cotton or pull a few threads off it.

I sent a few spore prints inside a greeting card once, figured that would hide the feel through the envelope.
Got opened, they were there, but letter was obviously ripped opened and taped shut. Was last December, someone in the mail probably thought it was cash in a christmas card. I think US mail service hires temps around christmas. Or maybe a regular employee.
