I can get pics later but I got a PE shoebox starting to blob out, would it help to add a extra layer of coir/verm at this point?

No. Just let the blobs grow to maturity and harvest. The second flush typically pushes out normal wieners

While over here we mostly use metric but would say 100-200ml instead of 1-2cl.
Edit: sorry for the offtopic, I was just thinking out loud
US food is metric. ingredient labels are in grams or milligrams and liquids in liters or milliliters.

Does anyone have any ideas to what type this is? Was gifted a swab labeled RT (and can no longer contact the person to ask...) so I was thinking it possibly stands for Riptide but I can only find info on albino riptide squats and there's not a lot...
One tub looks normal and the other is blobbing out like crazy.

Here is a pic of my normal golden teachers for color reference

Sorry if this is the wrong place I will move the post.

hard to say but if i had to guess, i bet the blobby one is penis envy due to the fact that it ALWAYS FUCKING BLOBS. its the maine complaint about that variety.
the other one is anyones guess. So many cubes look the same to me until they reach adult size and even then, its hard to say.

Went to local big box to re-up on BRF and all they had was a mix. Brown rice flour/ sorghum flour/ potato starch. It also contains Xanthan gum. That ok? I know this stuff makes good fried porkchops, so not a total loss.

Coffee grinders handle the abuse well. I bet it’d work but i think sorghum isnt a true grain its a seed in the coltsfoot family like amaranth and quinoa

Sorghum is the same as milo, you'll be fine. It might be a little sticky though. Are you using clean genetics or hoping to PF Tek some spores? If spores, MIGHT not work the same as straight brown rice.

Welcome.
I'm going to guess bacteria, because it's pinning so soon before complete colonization.
86 degrees F is high. I run everything at 70. Is high enough, and cuts way down on bacteria winning if there is any.
So did you make or buy the LC? I saw where you said you "hadn't looked for contam in 20 years." A lot has changed for best practices in this hobby in two decades. I wasn't growing then, but I've read back, and what was standard then is caveman tek now.
I always highly recommend not making LC until people are experienced and good at agar, especially at recognizing, and transferring away from, contam.
The only other thing I can think is: do you have some nail holes and/or a hole plus a filter on top to allow some gas exchange? I think without that you can get pinning too soon too.
Pinning before colonization often happens because there is something not ideal, and the mycelium throws up a hail Mary "get some spores out in the world NOW!"
Can be contam, lack of oxygen, high heat, etc.
Though if I were new and got to this point, I bet I'd let it grow out another 5 days, then skip PF tek, mix it with some verm and grow it in a shoe box instead of tossing it.
If you grow shrooms that you think are contammed, and you decided to eat them, dry them then boil in water, strain, and drink the tea. Can mix in some honey. Boiling will kill whatever's in it.
So many people report stomach discomfort from shrooms, I never do. I assume a lot of it is people eating contammed shrooms.
LC isn't usually done with PF Tek. PF is low-tech, beginner, easy, not complicated. LC is more advanced and usually done by people who've graduated away from PF and mastered the basics.
How did you make your LC? Did you grow it from clean agar, or from spores? Should be from a tiny bit of mycelium you cleaned up on agar.
What did you mix to make the LC, how did you sterilize it, and inoculate it?
Do you have a photo of the LC growing?

Good question. You reminded me that there is no one right way of doing many things but there are a hell of a lot of wrong ways.

I mean.
Short answer yes there is.
Real answer is : everything is so culture/strains/varieties/conditions/procedures/etc.. specific, no there isn't IMO
