A fun drinking game is scrolling through r/shrooms and taking a drink every time you pass a post asking if some random mushroom they found is a "liberty cap". You get drunk pretty quick.

I don't think my spawn was super clean. Do you think that's why I get so many mutants?

Looks bacterial in that first pic. I've noticed bacteria causes weird fruit formations imo

Hey Rum. They are actually 2 different tubs with different spawn. I left the standing water in there as a test because I want to see what happens when I don't do anything at all to my tubs. I've only flipped the lid after full colonization and cracked open for a few pics. Other than that, nothing. And I'm liking the results.
My agar game is improving big time, so hopefully no more bacteria. I agree with you on bacterial spawn causes mutants. Check out this wierdo...

Why won't a PF Tek cake fruit?
Hi guys, my first grow, wanted to experiment and made 2 BRF cakes and one with rye flour.
The brf cakes fruited no problem, one of them is now starting a second flush, but the rye flour one won't fruit.
The mycelium formed nicely same as with brf cakes, I keep all of them in the same conditions, SGFC, humidity above 90 %, temp around 21 C all the time, i'm assuming FAE is ok since the brf ones fruited.
Any ideas what's going on why it won't fruit?
I see small pins that seem to have started and then stopped, not sure if the gree/blue parts are mold or just bruising.
Here's a pic:

Yeah, for sure, if not more. I didn't write the date of birthing. This rye flour cake was the last to fully be permeated with mycelium. But it's been a month + for sure.

Here's a pic:

BRF is chosen for PF Tek because of it's resistance to bacterial growth. That's why cubes are able to outpace bacteria in it without pressure cooking it. Rye on the other hand is an absolute microbe free for all. It's possible that it's contaminated beyond repair, probable, nearly certain if you used pf tek jars/verm filter.

BRF isn't resistant to bacteria. The PF tek process is (to some extent) because it's easy to sterilize and more importantly, never shaken. I do not think the flour choice has anything to do with bacteria resistance.
