2nd Flush of my first ever grow. The crack is from dunking...
Besides a lackluster yield is there anything else that looks wrong?
I misted a bit too much during the first flush and underestimated how little FAE is actually needed.
It's meant to be A.P.E.
Results of the first flush:

In total I think it was 12-14G dry. The vendor of the LC admits that it's a new strain for them and from their test it produces small yields which are small blue mushrooms. However I do think 12G is too small of a yield (maybe idk) and I've fked up somewhere during the process.
What's your tub size? How many mycoquarts did you use? What was your spawn:sub ratio?
You got fruits. That's a win. You can only improve from now on
Used a 10L tub, just a single bag of brown rice and my sub ratio wasn't really measured.
In hindsight my sub ratio was way off and didn't add enough substrate imo (it was only 1.5inches deep), ontop of that my brown rice wasn't fully colonized only about 80% of the way but broke off whatever wasn't and used the part which was. I didn't actually know about field capacity at the time of doing S2B and I believe I would of messed that up.

Ape is not usually a good yield unless you work to get a good clone culture. Yours looks pretty normal for a spore grow ime.
Even the clones I’ve run weren’t very good. This was my most recent.

Potency kinda makes up for it though.

They can do canopies but tend to be smaller
This was my best ape tub "canopy" wise but again small and a pain to harvest

Smartattack has some impressive ape grows, though he admitted he got lucky with a clone early on.

I was out at a friends and they had a few bags of what they said were cubes. one bag looked to be the fat stems of some PE strain... no cap. but the strange thing was they were soft to the touch. you could indent them easily - though they were surely bone dry... light as a feather.
Freeze dried?

I only see ape grows in potd between all the bullshit people post in there without pictures.
I hate apes, so I don’t follow any threads or anything devoted to them.

Hey all,
I harvested my first flush of PE on 10/11 and as of today(10/16) I’ve not yet seen any real pinning. Conditions are the same as they’ve been and I’m keeping the sub misted while also avoiding pooling of water.
I know any number of things could go wrong but, assuming I haven’t f’ed something up, what is the “average” amount of time I should expect to see some real pinning? I feel like i should be worried already.
Thanks all!

Sometimes you only get one flush. Did you rehydrate it after the first flush? If so nothing else to do besides wait and maybe get nothing. It has only been five days so…

Ah, it's nice to hear that brown rice is still occasionally used! Always liked it.

Possibly, yeah. Some larger varieties don’t have a fibrous texture when dried, also. My APE is more like a foam. But yeah, maybe freeze dried.

Beautiful!
Guess I’ll post this here instead of potd
PE/RW f5 swab SS > grains and cakes goin good. That bottom jelly jar donated its myc via glc to the qt 5 days ago, should be ready to spawn by day 7 (might be my fastest ms qt to date) Good recovery on the glc jar. Cakes are @ about 80% outside colonized… top layer of MTP removed today. Everything appears to be clean as a whistle

The qt is zipblock bound (gonna try a laymixed w/1” compressed TL if I can get it all into the 8oz container).. 2 jelly jars are going to sandwich baggies and the cakes will be in a larger ziplock together.. think I’ll roll them in CV ala Mateja
If you want to check out all the gen grows of these that’s here in pheno hunters
Fp+ f7 clone dried grain revival (quick recap: used dried grains from late March to knock up a qt and 3 new glc grain jars a couple weeks ago)
Qt is ready and I’ll be also zipblocking that laymix style tomorrow. Gave the top jelly jar a final shake to check for recovery two days ago and the bottom 2 yesterday. Those will then be used in the damprid experiment (thanks for the suggestion micello!) to dry them out in a few days (if not faster hopefully) rather than a few weeks of passive drying
