Also make sure you turn your stove down once it hits pressure or else you will just boil off all your water.
Also, I get so annoyed of the constant hiss that I just prefer the extra weight to keep it quiet. There a plenty of reasons why people put extra weight on it haha
The noise is why I decided to use the weight in the first place, and I haven’t been super bothered by tending it every 15 or so. But today I’m trying the rocker and so far I’ve liked the hands off nature of it. I definitely had the heat on too high. Thought of that about half an hour ago. Finishing it off with the quarters on top this time just in case it’s low on water.
But yeah. Once I get this figured out, I think the jiggle weight is a totally viable if not more efficient option at least for me.

Cool sounds like you’re figuring it out!
A friend of mine wanted to learn how to grow a few years back and I was walking him through everything but when he was cooking grains, he didn’t want to use the extra weight because “the rocker just keeps it at 15.” We’ll he didn’t turn the heat down either because then he would have to keep manipulating it to keep it at 15. Long story short, he boiled off all his water, broke all the grain jars and had a huge mess of burned grains to deal with.

Who can say what the future holds. I know folks on here are growing some serious weight, but atm I’m just growing for the stimulation of doing so.
Two years from now, who knows what the heck I’ll be up to.

With 3 quarts of water(what the manufacturer recommend) in my PC I can run for 4 hrs with rocker weight and still have an inch of water when done.
Once the rocker gets rolling good like spinning in circles like a full circle every second then turn it down so spinning a little slower and let it go!

I grew the sunflowers myself, or I agree, this would be a silly and expensive idea.

Isn't the "rocker" called a stopcock?
I add 3 USA quarters to mine, I saw that on a post here from 10 years ago, probably one of the few things that old on here that works. haha.
They're taped on with high-temp metal furnace tape. Seems to be the perfect weight. Never rattles. I let the PC shoot steam 10 min, put the stopcock on with tongs, let it get to between 15 and 20 psi, then turn the heat way down.
After a while of this I figured out on my stove the right setting to put it at to keep it there. First 10 times I had to keep an eye on it, after that, it's dialed in.
I just looked at it and realized I can see the outline of George Washington on it.
Even if he were OK with shrooms he'd probably tax small shroom farmers to pay for some war.

My Presto 23's are all pitted at the bobble and the weights hissed because of it, regardless of weight added.
I moved to safety pressure valves. started with 20psi, but they blew too early. So I run 25psi now. And back when I ran sealed bags, its important not to run the PC bleeding steam... it can cause popped bags.
Silent. Little fuss. But perhaps a tad more dangerous. I'm unsure if they malfunction.
