Honestly I’ve only done steam sterilization in boiling water for grain and agar, and only popcorn as grain

Slugs are the earths inoculators. Funny thing is how many slime molds are present in slug slime...

You mentioned a rice maker, (I completely agree, I'm just using that as a segway into something, not an argument)... I've been experimenting with using rice cookers (I've got access to a couple that are decent sized) as a tool for prepping grains, NOT as an alternative to pressure cooking for sterilization, but as an alternative to boiling/soaking..
Have any of you guys given this a try? I still need a little work with the exact ratios, but in theory it seems to work.. add your grain of choice (I'm running tests with oats) add your water, press a button and walk away.. come back to a batch of grains that is hydrated and ready to fill your jars and PC.
I've found rice cookers at garage sales for a few dollars and, depending on the size of the cookers, you can easily prep a batch of grains using a couple cookers running at the same time

Just like a regular pot you wouldn't need ratios, just make sure there's ample water covering the grains. Give it a whirl and see if it hydrates a batch properly.

How do it I know for sure if I've got an albino on my hands or just leuistic fruit?
Edit: This is what I'm working with. Melmac through several white fruit invitro. One grew large in and the cap opened up. I swabbed it and only saw bluing on the swab. Which I'm not used to when I swab regular PE or Melmac the swab end turns black. I'm not sure if this is a albino, leuistic fruit or even just lighter than normal due to conditions. As it doesn't look as white as I'm used to seeing in other "albinos". I took several biopsies from the large fruit and put a smaller pin straight to a fresh agar plate.

It does have blueing but not much at all even where I took biopsies didn't do much blueing which is weird to me.

Does anyone know why these GTs may be stalling? I used MSS and it’s my first grow ever. Went into fruiting on 9/10 and first pins popped up 9/18. My substrate was CVG. I run a fan above as shown in the pic 24/7 on the second to lowest setting slightly bent to the side of the tub to disturb air where the tub is for FAE. I haven’t opened the lid but I have exchange holes around the tub. I’ve also attached an average temperature for the past week that’s placed on top of the tub.

That tub is dry as fuuuuuck - you should not be running a fan, ever! FAE is supplied by the holes in your tub, or by a flipped lid in unmodified tubs. That is plenty enough.

So turn the fan off and spray the side walls then it should continue growth?

I'd soak the sub really good with a mister. Should drink up a pint or more over a few hours without pools left behind. Likely those little fruits will abort after and make way for a flush of fatties if the sub isn't fighting contams.
Good luck.

Thanks for that info, I’ll do that right now. Out of curiosity; how can you tell it’s super dry just so I can know for future reference.

I use an instant pot, I grow about 1kg of dried mushrooms a month. I use 1 liter jars and no-prep millet. I PC them three jars at a time for 180 min with 15 min of venting. You can remove the manual vent on an instapot for venting. I don't know about other brands of electric pressure cooker, but the study linked by P9 (which I had read before) seems to suggest they don't regulate the temperature as well.
I haven't had a bacterial bottle since I first started cult by injecting spores to grain before I knew better.
It can be done and works for my purposes. It has a place in MY mycology. If you have better tools then use them, otherwise use what you have as best you can.
Just my 2c for anyone following along.
Peace
I just set my 3 grain jars for 180 minutes instead of 105 minutes like the first time I sterilized my grains. I used rye my first time and oats this time. Hope I have the same results as you.

At the moment my workflow doesn't need it. I easily do six jars in a day with almost no effort, nine if I start early. I definitely want a nice big one, it's on my list, but at this point a flow hood or FFU is higher up.
