Lotta opinions from people who havent used it. By the way you can vent it my wife uses one all the time for rice.

P9- youre the one who brought it to this thread so it's ironic that you call it a dead horse and act lkke youre being bated. Super petty behavior dude.

So I guess the only question left before that discussion end is: how good is her rice?

Sooo.... How about those (insert random sports team here)! Lol so curious about what is going on with my nats.  They colonized casing layer then started to knot then just got really puffy someone described as growing broccoli.  I tried recasing one and it just tore through the CV and did the same thing. What could be the reason for this not a pause because they get bigger in just not pinning?

I don't really want to rehash the debate on instapots, and I'm not arguing with anyone that they are the perfect equipment for cult.  I don't have a TC badge or anything and I've only been growing for a year or so.

I use an instant pot, I grow about 1kg of dried mushrooms a month. I use 1 liter jars and no-prep millet.  I PC them three jars at a time for 180 min with 15 min of venting.  You can remove the manual vent on an instapot for venting.  I don't know about other brands of electric pressure cooker, but the study linked by P9 (which I had read before) seems to suggest they don't regulate the temperature as well.

I haven't had a bacterial bottle since I first started cult by injecting spores to grain before I knew better.

It can be done and works for my purposes.  It has a place in MY mycology. If you have better tools then use them, otherwise use what you have as best you can.

Just my 2c for anyone following along.

Peace

The problem with mushrooms is that they're actually not very difficult to grow at very small scale, you can do just about anything and get mushrooms, this is why we have shit like broke boi tek, UB, instant pots, etc etc. Some folks even think that mycelium parasitizes competitive organisms; if you have mold like Trichoderma or bacteria the mycelium will just grow over it and  then it's gone, out of sight, out of mind.

You can shoot spores into a bag of rice and grow mushrooms, you can even get mushrooms from bacterial spawn. Getting mushrooms is great, it's the end goal after all, but let's not confuse things by equating any result at all with proper technique, proper tool selction, etc.

Folks have conflated mycology with cultivation; growing mushrooms makes you as much a mycologist  as growing plants makes you a botanist. New growers are exposed to the new and strange sounding terminology and expect mad science, so when they discover that it doesn't take mad science to net a result you get angry folks who will kick hard and name call if you suggest that their approach isn't THE way, it's simply A way; Some ways are better than others. Reddit is a hot bed for that mentality, clearly; telling someone that corn spawned to shit isn't a great combination:

Hey man  I grew 15 grams last tub and it's all I need so don't  be an asshole.

Or: Hey, spores to UB pack is more than likely going to result in bacteria...

Hey man...don't be an asshole because mushrooms...

I feel the same way about instant pots and this most recent argument.

Instant pots fail standard autoclave verification procedure so it's not suited as an autoclave. Period, unless you're running liquids. This is the reality.

Can you use it to get some mushrooms? Probably just as easily as shooting spores into an UB bag, does this make it something worth arguing for?

I bet you could cook rice in a rice cooker and then use it as spawn, should we though?
It works for cordyceps, Maybe we should use rice cookers...if they "work", and I bet dollars to donuts they do.

Growing on towels works, growing out of bibles works, sponges work, UB pouches work, on whole potatoes...works, raman noodles...all of this will work, all of it will get you mushrooms. You can get mushrooms using box fan flowies, or wearing a full tyvek hazmat suit in front of an open oven.

The legitimate legal mushroom community laughs at active growers, the growers you see here as if they're retarded step kids, there's a reason for that, lol.

Could you paint your kitchen with a tooth brush? Probably, I mean itsnot an entire house so at small scale a toothbrush is at least good enough for your kitchen cupboards, right?

A brush is a brush as a pot is a pot. Scale is irrelevant, use the correct tools and procedures.

I'm as much of a mycologist as I am a good boyfriend lol

I wouldn't even glance at an instapot in a store. If I couldn't buy a PC I'd steam BRF cakes by the dozens until I could afford to buy/import a PC from it.
