Anybody have any good deals on pallets of coir? Stuff has just skyrocketed lately

Not sure if its a good deal but i pay around $15 for a 50 liter bag - which is good for around 5 tubs, from a local hydro shop when purchasing a pallet. I think retail is around $16-17 each.
Interested in what deals others are getting

Thanks but thats a bit much when i can get a  5kg block for 14 retail which makes around 70L when expanded.

I just cant find any pallets that arent ridiculous once freight/shipping is included.

Thank you for the help

This is on water agar, would it be ready for sugar and/or yeast?

Yeah.. as long as that black stuff is really just a ton of spores, it should be fine..

Either way I'd send it to a nutritional plate for the T1 so you can see the growth patterns and judge the healthiest growth for any future transfers... on WA, it's just going to stay whispy which will make it difficult to tell if it looks healthy or not.

You get very slow Nats and fast Nats, that seems to be a bit of overlay forming but it should start fruiting soon.
Just keep maintaining your conditions.

Thats a pretty good deal, yeah blocks are definitely a little cheaper (though i find it easier and faster to work with the shredded/prehydrated coir)

I just realized it'd be probably best to contact the manufacturer directly if ordering a pallet and probably knock the final price down to $14 ea at least with shipping included. I had to preorder this specific brand with the retailer - and was told the minimum was a pallet for them to ship it out.

Maybe a large garden supply store could put it on their next order to save you shipping?  I'm not quite there yet on scale so haven't had this problem.

Looking for ideas of good edible wild mushrooms to find and grow from spores.

I have pleurotus ostreatus in mind right now but would love 1 or 2 more ideas to increase my odds of finding them when I'll go walk the woods tomorrow. :sun:

Edit: eastern Canada

Currently looking for nothing. You guys who sent me stuff are straight up awesome!. :mushroom2:

Maitake should be out where you live. They are very easy to clone. Chicken of the woods is not too hard to find/clone either.

If you want to find maitake just look for areas with the biggest pin oaks and red oaks and check near their bases. Chicken of the woods will be anywhere that trees have fallen that is wet. Areas where beavers dwell are great COW hunting grounds. It's like they do the work for you. You can hunt chickens and hens from the car if you go slow.

Eastern CA you'll likely find a lot more oyster varieties in the late spring/summer.

I just ordered my presto 23 qt PC today.  I canโ€™t wait to step my game up and start diving into agar!  I feel like now I can really start experimenting and learn how to produce clean spawn.  This hobby is already insanely fun and I havenโ€™t even spawned any of my jars or grain bags yet.  Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge and helping cut down on the learning curve!

Look at the spawn in my signature!  I'm getting real excited for my first tub.  I'll start on Monday.  Am I ok to let these grow out in their jars for another 3-4 days?
