Also have to figure in how much grow space you have. Be it tubs and actual space in your dormicile. The second and third flushes is where you can get some chonkers though.

I use hard winter rye mostly. With white millet. 50/50 thru 80/20 and any where between.
Right now it's 100% millet because I ran out of rye. I'd rather use them mixed or just use rye.
I pressure cook mine in a pot (for 30-40min) 1st to hydrate them, then I dump them in a long flat tote. Once cool I put calcium sulfate all over them. Coat them in it.
Then I bag and weigh them. Then pressure cook for like 3hrs
They turn out perfect.
Just weigh out the grain and multiple it by 0.86 to get your water weight, then pressure cook 5-15psi for 30 min to hydrate. Dump & cool. Add calcium sulfate. If you don't coat the grain in sulfate they will be very sticky and cause issues sometimes. I weigh out 4-5lb bags and then the long pressure cook.
Hope that helps

Funny you say that cause I've recently been thinking about running rye and millet bags and hadn't really heard of it being a thing.
I figured the millet would really help recolonize after a shake.
How comes you say you'd rather use them mixed or just rye?
I have a bunch of straight millet bags but haven't had the chance to inoculate them yet and this is my first time with millet.

idk, just think the mixed is the best of both. rye alone cause im more comfortable with it and works amazing. idk about nutritional value to the fungus tho. idk what grain is best. i think rye is up there.

Wheat lover, but no expert. I have noticed locally that they sell several types of wheat. Red, White, Hard, Soft, Winter, Spring. I haven't noticed any difference in using them. I basically use Dawgy Style Wheat Prep being sure to slice a few open to confirm hydration before draining them in a brewers bag on a big sieve. As long as you are checking hydration levels, the differences in size and hardness shouldn't be any issue ime.

Yeah if you have your stuff dialed in decently you should almost always be getting like 80%+ of the possible yield after two flushes. I never understood that at first and wondered why people were tossing them when I was still getting decent 3rd and 4th flushes. Then as I got better it made sense.

No idea if this sort of thing is ok to discuss or goes in the cultivation forums but: how safe/unsafe is it crossing borders with spore prints or syringes? Will be in the Netherlands soon and was considering picking up some spores for stone producers. Do drug dogs or scans at customs pick up on that?

When it comes to things like this, I personally would advise against it. If you’re not 100% sure, it’s not worth it.
If they’re legal in both the country of departure and arrival, it might be ok. Otherwise I dunno man. Don’t give them a reason to even ask questions, that’s my policy with international travel.

No way a dog would pick it up.
A syringe I wouldn’t do but a print is no problem. Tiny, doesn’t catch the eye, no drugs. Possibly legal. And 99% of people won’t know what it is anyway. Just throw one inside a book like a bookmark.

They’re not where I live, not even for microscopic purposes. Which is why I was thinking removing the branding and hiding them from humans might be safer than ordering them to my address.
But would also rather not risk getting caught and having someone come pay me a visit at home after.

So I just harvested my first SB spawned millet not oats or brf. Normally between 350-450 grams wet with millet 570 grams wet! Might just be dumb luck but I'm keep pushing and hope that becomes the norm.
