You can do it in a SAB if youβre very concerned. Iβm not sure anyone sterilizes foil? I could be totally wrong about that.

Theyβll be fine. The spores will need to be put to agar and cleaned of contamination that way.

Yea but there are many people, including TCs, that still sterilise foil. (I'm trying to find the TC post)
I stick to swabs, but I'll be cutting, folding and then sterilising just like this dude when I next take prints. Far less worry of contam during the cut and folds, and being careful of where you're touching.
It's by no means necessary but a matter of preference / extra precaution.

Do it for 15 mins to be safe. Nothing wrong with pre cutting foil for prints, easier to make them look more professional.

Just don't cut it.

I'm careful when tearing it off the roll, fold it in half length wise, discard about 1" off each end(where I touched the inside), then fold to size like an accordion. This is what I understood from Bod's print tek.

I wipe my foil w/Iso in front of a HEPA. I only know a couple people that I feel confident going print/swab to grain (Faht, DonS). Usualy, I'll take at least a transfer or two on agar before grain.

I think no matter how clean you make your foil the biggest vector for for contams is gonna be your caps and spores. Since they're fruiting in open air, you're always gonna want to assume the print is dirty and go to agar before grains anyway.
I'm not saying sterilizing foil is bad or wrong; but since its sterile off the roll I've never had a problem putting caps to foil from open air to inside a tub, then doing the second foil transfer inside a sab more cleanly. First print time/foil is just to let the dirtiest spores drop, second drop is the keeper.

You just tear along the fold lines then fold the edges with this method. They end up the same little envelopes with the folded sides like the pic in my sig

There's some weird myc shenanigans happening also but again, oats man. Nothing I wouldn't spawn but definitely not master jar material.
I think I got too excited thinking this T1 was clean enough for grains. Something wonky about, but like ya said, itβs also oats. Gonna spawn em for science

Bods tek is what I use. I think the only difference is I use shoebox for storing during the process and transfer in sab, while he doesn't specify where he keeps his foil and doesn't mention a sab or fh iirc.
/e and as a general rule tearing is better than cutting. Whether its prints or cloning a fruit, cutting can pull contams from the exterior to the interior. This is why we tear open fruits to get at the clean interior instead of slicing them with our scalpels.

So cutting is advised against cus it introduces contaminates right? Cus ive sterilized these pieces of foil so i doubt contamination would come from the foil, probably the cap or spores itself

Definitely from the spores and cap. Prints are not sterile.
