How long can a fully colonised grain jar be kept in the fridge and still be spawned?

Should the GE holes be covered to prevent drying?

The idea of ge holes is that they allow gas exchange without moisture getting in or out. I wouldn’t cover them

To add to the dehydrator conversation... I've been noticing a 'feel' I've acquired... That very very dry schrooms sound a certain way, light, crisp dry leaves... and not quite so dry has more of a thud sound.
Aaaaand... if I put a bunch of just harvested wet shrooms in there... the dry ones will regress to the heavier thud sound. I don't need to weigh them to know they took on water. In this way, dehydrators seems to work better in batches...

Ive noticed the thing about doing it in batches too... the added moisture from the fresh ones definitely gets absorbed by the drier ones

The unseen bacteria in a couple grain jars that I rushed to bulk is definitely making itself visible in jars from the same MS>T1>T2 culture left on the shelf for an extra few weeks:

Pretty sure that’s the culprit preventing this tub from colonizing, that and maybe the heat

Well, off to the compost bin, with you….just a reminder-to-self to slow down, sometimes making sure spawn is clean can be a matter of just waiting a little longer. Doesn’t always show up to the naked eye right away.

I really hope you haven't composted that already! I've gotten a LOT of fruits from bacterial spawn in the past. It does hinder yields and fruit health but I'm sure you would get something from that tub. Just my $0.02

Good to see there are some good ones on there (Yoshi Amano and Munchauzen). It surprised me that there are good growing teachers on YouTube.
Because the ones with the most views are (at least used to be) the horrible ones like Willy Myco who never show results, talk faux-street, and do insanely bad things like constantly pass his arm over open plates.
And he says "You have to pick the sunflower seeds out of WBS and throw them away"
(You don't have to pick them out! Mycelium grows on them just fine, and they're often the first thing colonized!)
That guy has 2044 people sending him at LEAST 2 dollars a month on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/willymyco
Plus selling merch and who knows how much in crypto donations.
I hope the guys doing it right are making at least a fraction of what the worst one is getting.
I know it's not all about money, and we all help out for free here, but doing a YouTube channel where you're actually showing results is risky.

Saw some rain in the forecast, so I actually decided to flower-pot it out in the garden. If it fruits at all outside, then cool. I’ll definitely clone any dense clusters, and giant chunks if they happen to spring up. But I need the space on the shelf for some other cultures I’ve got going. Indoor space is at a premium, and tubs that don’t colonize after a month gotta go. Coffee is for closers, ya know?

Mycelium is always hungry.
It just shrank the agar a bit and then filled in the gap. Can't leave any surface uncolonized or tams might grow there. That's what the myc thinks.

Wet spots don't always mean bacteria, especially with oats. It's just hard to say with oats sometimes.
There's some weird myc shenanigans happening also but again, oats man. Nothing I wouldn't spawn but definitely not master jar material.

Gonna make prints for the first time, will 5 min in 500° F be enough to sterilize these?
