I've definitely considered it more than a few times. The cold winters are very off-putting tho, not gonna lie. I hope more and more countries start tolerating psychedelics in the same way soon. They are going mainstream but people's minds are slow to change.
You get used to the cold. I moved to basically Canada and dig the -40 nights. One of my favorite times to trip honestly
It's rarely quite that cold where I am but it can certainly get there.
Summers can be more brutal tbh. It's 30Β°C right now, RH in the 70s, "feels like" 39Β°C. According to my weather app.

We had 40c yesterday in the UK. Record temp. Was fucking gross, just wanted the day to be over. There was devastating fires in multiple areas of the country.

Hey Guerrilla Iβll swap the weather with you haha. The past two summers down here in Oz have been absolutely dreadful especially in Sydney.
Donβt get me wrong itβs nice to not have to water the garden twice a day but not having blistering hot summers makes this turtle want to pull his head in and wait for the sun to shine once more.

Yeah, I keep hearing about how all the pale British folk over there just be melting like the Wicked Witch of the West.
That's crazy hot though. Last summer and so far this summer have been pretty tame over here.

I feel your pain mate! 112Β°f (44.4Β°c) here today man it's rough. Especially in the UK isn't know for their hot temps lol sorry man hope you can still control your indoor temps ok. Mine are at 87Β° f inside today yikes shroomies no like. Anyways my question I happen to live next to 3 horses so does anyone know a Tek or process for preparing hpoo from horse to substrate? I found some for aged hpoo but not nasty fairly fresh luckily I'm in a desert with low humidity. Prepping fresh hpoo to be ready for pasteurization thanks all

3 days after spawning to bulk I have a side pin on my B+ tub. Colonization times look pretty good, but they ate up the PF jars real fast. On top of that, many of the jars that birthed a day later were covered in pins. All white, a little blob like but many distinct in shape. Pale. Iβm wondering if I have something special.
Pray my agar works. Iβd be miffed if these are aggressive, potent, and either albino or leucistic. That would be an amazing find Iβd hate to lose.

Lol. Thats funny. What happened here is your spawn was pinning and this little guy survived spawning and continued to grow. You won't get pins establishing 3 days after spawning with even the most aggressive cultures.
Spawn pinning as it nears finishing colonizing is not uncommon.

Ok that makes way more sense. I grated the cakes and I must have missed that one lol. I was sure any kind of pinning at 3 days wasnβt supposed to be happening.
Still holding out for a cool pheno, though. Maybe Iβll get some white fruits!

Got 5 bags of gt on rye going, already added substrate on Monday. The myc was perfect in all of them.
We had a heatwave come through this week. Itβs been 90 all week. I leave my a/c on because I feel like Iβm at a very delicate stage in this process, my house is usually 68-72 where the grow space is.
Would it be ideal to shut the ac off for a day or 2 to speed up the process slightly ? I feel like itβs a little too cold for the shrooms, but I feel like it will pay off in the long run with healthier substrate

So, the prevailing sentiment here is 65 - 75f for cubes. But I have always found that a little simplistic. I'm more interested in the temperature of the substrate. If you point a temp gun at the center of your sub... I like it to be 72f. Thats right where it doesn't slow down for me. 70f, and my golden teachers start slowing. The room temp is lower, right? because these things are making heat.
I get nervous about more contams and hollow shitty harvest when the sub gets up around 76f. So I find that a pretty narrow window.
Thats for my particular strain of Golden Teacher, so take that for what its worth.

 Love to see βem
The donor plate (above) I plucked βem from looked bacterial to me early on. Hoping minimal transfers away from receiving plate (below) will be required to clean the culture up to something I can actually spawn.

I had some T2βs originating from the same print that looked clean to my eye, grain fully colonized, looked good, but then tub is definitely bacterial.
Excited to see these little guys take off

I grow cubes at 70 f. Well above that I get more contams. Especially with jars.
In the summer my grow room can get above that, but not a lot.
On the rare occasion I get green in a jar, I toss the jar unopened. Not worth opening billions of contam spores in the house. Jars and lids and filters are cheap.
As for temp, remember, the inside of the sub is going to be a few degrees warmer, mycelium makes its own heat. But I see noobs try to grow "fast" with room (or tub) at 78 or so on here sometimes and they usually / often grow contam.
At 70 any small invisible amount of contam can be out competed by shroom mycelium, especially in grain jars. At 78 the mean green can win.
A few long-time members on here grow at 76 or so, but I won't do it until I've got 5 years under my belt, and then why fix what isn't broken?
I'm in no hurry. I've got more shrooms than I can eat in a lifetime already, after about a year of solid growing.
Don't heat the tub in the winter, heat the closet. With a small heater, an added fan, and a thermostat. And add two smoke detectors in there.
Why are people losing shrooms in Europe when it's 95 there? It's 95 here in the summer outside. Is it because air conditioning isn't as common there as in USA?
Last summer was hotter, I moved to a new place with no AC, and I bought a flowhood 2 weeks before I bought a window AC unit. #priorities

I'll just add that its been very helpful for me, to read the actual temp of the substrate, and adjust the room air accordingly. I have stacks upon stacks of low profile tubs that make their own micro climate within my room. I blow 64f air on them to get them down to 72f.

Nektar why dont you do a tub or bowl of bleach then open the jars under the water. Thats wat i do with plates. All the spores would be suspended in water and you just leave it for 20 minutes. I never bring jars outside cus im lazy

Here's another one of all my non-cube prints. Realized I lost count of what I have while putting away the two from the last pic. Figured I'd take a pic while I got them out to count. Ps natalensis, not pictured as I only have culture.
