How many plates per syringe in sufficient and how much growth is need to inoculate a jar?

Your future agar questions may do better in the agar envy thread linked above.
Your first transfer from your germination plate is your T1. It's possible to go from T1 to grain, though it's better to make further transfers up to T2/T3 ideally, just to be sure of no hidden contamination. T2/T3 isn't set in stone, you may find you need more transfers than that to clean up. Whatever it takes, but don't spend too long trying to clean something up if it keeps failing, always have multiple projects on the go.
When using spore prints and swabs you'd need to use up far less plates, but I'd guess 10-15 for a syringe. Maybe 20 to be on the safer side.
On your T2/T3, you can transfer any size wedge you like. The larger the wedge, the faster your grain will colonise. Anywhere from 1/6 - 1/2 of a plate is common practice. You can use a whole plate if you like but then you've just lost that plate and you can't go back to it again should you wish.
I use 1/2 a plate and make multiple transfers of the remaining, and I keep the plate around. If the results from the plate end up being great, sure you can clone fruits, but being able to go back to the original plate in attempt to isolate similar, yet different genetics with further transfers is handy.
Let the mycelium grow big enough so it's covering most of the plate, other than a gap around the edge (contam can hide in the edges of the plate).

Yeah that's the first time I've seen a slime mold in someone's substrate lmfao. What are you using for your substrate? Coco coir? Potting soil?
My guess is there were slime mold spores in your substrate and it wasn't properly pasteurized/sterilized. They're certainly not something I've ever worried about as a contaminant. Pin molds and trichoderma are way more common.

With a syringe I would just put one drop on one plate. Once it grows you can expand to as much as you want and save the syringe. I always ended up with at least 20x as many plates as I needed when I first started agar
One plate can easily knock up 6 jars of its fully grown in. But you can also use a wedge the size of a bb if you want. As long as some clean myc gets in.

Idk, syringes can be bacterial af, one plate is not leaving much probability of workable myc, or any room for technique error.
I'd say 5 at the least.

update got the pressure cooker, decided to get one.
with the inoculated agar (parafilm ) - would storing on shelves for the myc to colonize the agar - in an open ziplock bag in the pantry be common practice? or a darker location

Don't worry that you grew contam.
We've all grown contam.
But you grew some cool rare contam we've never grown. That's pretty interesting.
Read the thread in my sig line "things I wish I'd known."
I think I grew contam longer than many here and that post is how to not do that.

My last batch of agar plates was a total fail. I think I accidentally used too much honey in the process (pasty plates). Is that a cause for more trich, higher sugar? Or did I just have bad luck and sketchy plates from transfers?

Contamination isn’t more or less likely from agar ratios. Contam is from an unsterile process, be it improper pc cycles, sloppy sab/hood work or faulty equipment (bad filters on pasty plates, bad wraps on dishes, etc)

Nah sounds like you fucked up.
Don’t use honey either use a more simple food source like rice powder…, imo

And are black bags better for side pins? Cause I used white and I got some side pins. And why don’t you really want side pins?

I'd harvest all those in the back, yes, even the ones that haven't opened their caps yet.
The ones that havent opened (in the back amongst the open ones) are gonna open in the next day or two anyway. You can see the veil (white skirt from stipe to cap) stretching. If you left them, you'd have to harvest again in a couple days, and consider storing in the fridge or pointlessly running another dehydrator cycle, and then there'd be yet another harvest of the front ones once they'd matured.
The smaller ones in the middle and front have some growing to do.
Colour doesn't matter, it's not about blocking light, it's about creating a microclimate unideal for pin growth. Did you tape it to the tub? Because you don't want to do that. You want the bag to stick to the substrate as the sub contracts.
We dont want side pins because it's wasted energy that the mycelium could be spending on fruiting across the surface - many side pins will rarely get to a decent size and they're a pain to harvest.

I never use liners cuz idc about side pins and I keep my surface conditions on point so whatever side pins I do get aint really worth harvesting But if you want all your fruits to grow at the top then a black bag is what u want for a liner .
For the harvest I would pick the shrooms with torn veils dropping spoors . Leave the rest untill they grow up

No, clean spawn and proper surface conditions will help prevent side pins. A bags color or transparency doesnt matter.
