I ended up getting a big stockpot just for water.

Watch, one of these days, I'll come home to find someone cooking in it :grrr:

I am considering going back to hand patching the first mycelia to pop up through my top layer. I try to get it even, but I can tell I'm not perfect. Has anyone found a way to improve your top layer application? a grate? a sieve? tiny worker ants?

I have cubes vacuum sealed. Summer is coming. They might need to be around for a year. What temperature would you consider too warm for long term storage?

You should pasteurize some hpoo in your pc to clean it, not even trolling here

Many years back I used a friend's giant pot and she asked me to please look after it and not cook anything strange.

 so I cooked poo in it.

She got it back super clean, for some reason the shit had some magic cleaning abilities....

It was probably the cleaning after that did it but I like to believe it was the hpoo.

Looking for a specific tek I saw on here a bit ago, it was a certain way to cut holes into monotubs, I think it was like 4-5 holes on 2 sides with a 1/4 inch drill bit, using medical tape to cover some if they got to dry.

Anyone know this tek and have a link? I feel like it was popular on here

Thanks friend, quick question about monotubs. I have been using bags from shroomsupply forever, years at this point. I want to make the jump to tubs. I tried it once a few years back (unbodified, I believe) and dunked after my first flush. The cake broke in half, I tried to fruit anyways, I did get some more fruits but the cake quickly turned to mold.

I plan on using 2 quarts of rye berries and a brick of coir with some verm on my first go with an ez tub, and seeing what the results are.  From what I’ve gathered, I can expect 3-5 ounces.

Will a dunking be required to get this amount? It seems like a big hassle, mold, and more issues then necessary. I’d rather just run my cakes til they’re done for.

You don't have to dunk. You can just heavily mist for a couple days after the flush, if needed.

I'd recommend not counting on a certain yield. Just grow clean spawn, and grow clean shrooms. That's more important than betting on a good yield.

Agreed never count your chickens before they hatch. That being said one of the goals to shoot for is one dry ounce off of every qt of grain. So if you're using 2 qts around 2oz would be a decent yield. That's not the end all be all by any means but I feel like 5 oz off 2qts would only be from an amazing culture that you know how to provide like the absolute best conditions for. I use ezdial tubs basically exclusively now and I use 15qt tubs, 2qt spawn to 4qt coir and I get about 2.5 oz of normal cubes in my first flush and don't bother dunking or going for a second flush at all really. I normally have more spawn ready so just switch it out. Alot of people have been switching over to heavy mists for 2 to 3 days after you harvest the 1st flush instead of soaking so if you did that you wouldn't have to worry about the sub breaking.
