I haven't done a year, but I had some Z-Strain variety mycelium on a plate in a fridge for 7 months. Pulled it out, took a transfer, didn't even let it go to room temp, and within 7 days had some nice to transfer, and sent to grain.

I am guessing that a year at room temp would dry out a plate. Does it look dry? Hard to tell in that pic.

Weird when you put plates in the fridge. They keep growing but VERY slow. At 33 f they grow at maybe a month to a day at room temp.

Maybe take one more transfer.

This is the transfer after 7 days:

Just pour.

Wheat or die!

I mean milo and millet were already over $20 for 50lbs before all this inflation nonsense.
I imagine it will go up also. Plus I kinda hate birdseed and vowed to never go back after discovering wheat

I'll just have to deal with it but I wont be happy

You find there to be much of a difference between wheat and oats Nate? They’re about the same price for me but always stuck to oats because it’s what I know. Wheat does look pwiddy though

Dude, if you like oats, you'll fucking love wheat. You'll notice a drastic difference is the time it takes to dry wheat vs. oats.

Nektar: this plates barely fuzzing up over 5 days and the plate i pulled the pin from has a bunch of other pins but im just gonna start from spores.
Rontnpins: what container are u using to pour cus ive tried pouring agar from a mason jar which was already tough with its thickness but i cant imagine pouring liquid from the container cus all the sticking it would do to the side

I second this notion. Once you buy your first 50# bag of wheat or rye, you will never go back to oats or birdseed. They are so clean and quick to prep. I drive out to the sticks and get it at a grain co-op/feed store. $18 for 50lbs of wheat, and $21 for winter rye where I’m at. No soaking or rinsing needed. I just boil the crap out of them for 30min, air dry for an hour, and load.

SpaceBaby: I wish you the best in your endeavors. Moving sucks, and life is often a struggle, but it is worth living it. Hope this next chapter goes swimmingly.

I feel your pain. I moved across the country a few months ago.. it was a hellish experience. I had a trailer hitch put on my suv just for the move and they installed it below the bumper, so it sat super low. Talk about stressful... Never... again.. :crankey:

We seriously thought about moving across the country. Glad we didn’t:lol:

We moved across country and I’m pretty sure it was a nightmare (I blocked most of it out)  especially the 30 hours in a car with 2 cats.  I’ve not moved when I should’ve just because I didn’t want to move.. I’d rather deal with slumlords for another year than move lol.. it’s the worst

 sounds familiar... we had 2 cats in the suv with us.

It was worth it though.. I'm much happier where I'm living now.. moved from a tiny piece of shit apartment into a decent house... I don't miss the tiny apartment or the horrible weather.

Sometimes it's worth the hassle.. but I don't plan on doing it again.
