If i’m trying to save them I did the same thing, but out them in the slide out drawer on the bottom of your fridge. Preferably in a lunchbox due to temperature swings
Thank you. Its better for the myc inco agar to develop in the cupboard where it dark and they stil get some air as oppposed to a container that is locked up, but if i have spare agar i would put them in a lunchbox to keep

So I just put agar to grain for the first time. I know this is a dumb simple question but does this look right?
 Thanks
Looks good

I don’t put them in the dark on purpose, unsure if that’s beneficial or not. Just where I put mine, I wipe ISO on every cupboard that I store mushroom stuff in (jars/agar/boxes etc.)

I'm getting water in my bottom layer of spawn bags that I'm running in a presto 23. 3 bags on the bottom, three on the top. not pre-sealed. top bags fine. Trivet raised up to about the surface of the water. I fold the neck of the bag once and rotate the bag so the mouth is facing down, halfway on the side of the bag.
My working thought is when the bag cools, it sucks any water in the mouth of the bag into the grain - and during my 3.75hr run, there are a few ups and downs of temperatures that pump some water in. Some bags are very mushy from the unknown amount of water getting in.
Anyone else experienced wetter bottom bags?

I just harvested my first to shoeboxes (975g wet) and it was great fun. Someone told me the mushrooms look like Playa Uvita or a pretty special variety of cubes. They are supposed to be Cambodians and I can't tell if they look any different than other cubes because it's just my second grow.
What do you wonderful people of the shroomery think. Do they look different than ordinary cubes?

Those are cool! Congrats on the nice looking box!
I think they look leaner than regulars…
cubes I’ve seen have fat bottoms and bigger darker caps, but I might be trippen

Definitely cubes, just a slightly different look to that culture. That’s a great flush too.

might of been on the wet side cut back a bit next shoebox see what that does. 2nd flush will probably have more 'normal' looking cubes.

So I'm having issues with second flushes in shoeboxes. Right now running brf to cv but have grain jars working now. After I harvest and dunk do I put the lid on for couple days like when colonizing or keep just dunk then redub? The second flush takes 3 weeks and I do get is a couple big boys and about 40g of side shrooms. This about right? I know I can use liner for sides. Oh ya use quart of spawn. Should I just call that good? Thanks if that's what you expect I can stop trying to fix lol

I got dog shit 2nd flushes when I did spawned cakes but my skills were weak back then.
Switch to grains you’ll never look back or regret the extra investment.

your setup sounds fine to me, 1qt to a shoebox is pretty common. i usually just do heavy mistings over 2-3 days & then mist generously as the second flush comes in. second flushes are never pretty & idk if you can fully avoid side pins with a liner on the second flush, especially if you dunk

Also capsules. About how much powdered weight can someone get into the bigger capsules. So put a better way what is the biggest capsules max weight that one of you have used? Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I think you are absolutely right with the shoeboxes being on the wet side. I prepared them slightly wetter than I wanted too - will change that if there will be a next time with BRF.
I used a bit more than one quart per shoebox.

This tub just started pinning, but for some reason there is a spot (a little smaller than a quarter) that isn't colonized.. is this a red flag 🚩

What do you look for when choosing the best G2G master jar? I have like 9 jars ready to spawn but want to use one as a master. All but 1-2 look good besides the water marks here and there, along with some spiky myc here and there which i’ve been told indicates mycelium is fighting something (not rhizo.)

Usually first to colonise is a very promising sign, providing the myc looks healthy. That’s what I always go for anyways.

I wanna talk grain bags..
How can we get them to perfection? (RYE)
I do a 24 hour soak and I have a pressure cooker full of grains on high for 45 mins (heating up the water with the grains). It's only at this point they look hydrated enough by eye.
But after a few hours of pressure cooking, they can go a little mushy.
Should I be decreasing my soak, my boil, both? And by how much roughly? I am just gonna keep playing around with it.

Sorry completely forgot to mention I'm using rye.
Wondering if this would work for that too?
Thanks either way
