How do you when you need to dunk your substrate in SB since was dunking before was dry enough so messed up second flush I just harvested a flush still a few pins do I let it go for a couple more days until the weight is significantly less then dunk? Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge
If your asking when to drink, most people do after the first harvest, if you had somewhat of a full tub, half a tub, I probably wouldn't. Unless you underhydrated your substrate initially, this could also cause a problem. Being able to visually differentiate different levels of dryness of coir comes with experience. But if it's a light brown it's way to dry, in which case you don't even necessary HAVE to drink. Dunkings if you need a shit ton of waters which you might, especially if you want a second flush out of a block that already produced alot. You could also most along the edges of the container allowing the water to fall down the sides and reabsor, or even do what people call bottom watering I suppose, just pour water down the edges and pour off whatever doesn't reabsorb in the morning.

Can anyone recommend a thread on what it is like to hunt down a piggybacking contamination on mycelia with a microscope, with a tutorial vibe? Also... what would a person realistically be set back on getting said microscope?

That's what I thought. The model I have will fit a pressure regulator or gauge I think that would be easier and more accurate what do you all think? It's only like $15 so not expensive.

Very strong presumption on an Anonymous online forum
By the way, i was wondering. How thick (in %) do you make your top layer? I realized mine is seriously thin, so i am wondering if that could be the source of some problems.

About that but up to 1/2 inch. I'm not very precise about it, I just don't want to see any grains poking out.

Right thanks. I just get really dense sets of knots, but many of them don't pin sometimes. Sometimes blobs even with non PE. I am just tryna figure out what could be the cause besides the obvious thing which i have already experimented with.

In the states, I got my Presto 26 second-hand, and in great shape. But the FIRST thing I did before running it was get a new set of seals/gaskets and a new pressure gauge to replace the stock one of unknown age. It might’ve been fine, but a few extra bucks for a new high quality gauge is peace-of-mind worth investing in.

I’m making LC for the first time, got a ton of info from everyone and most supplies arrived. The last thing i’m about to order is peptone, worth it? If so, is there a certain kind/brand you’d suggest (keep hearing about soy peptone.)
Recipe would be, for 600ml H20 1G LME .5G Peptone
Thoughts?
